Well with all due respect, Lampard is a Chelsea player. He means nothing to me, his mum means nothing to me, and certainly no more than all the random people that die every day - I dont say YNWA or RIP to all the other hundreds of people who will die today, and as Lampard's mother means no more to me than them I wont be saying it about Frank's mother either.

To be honest I've no idea why have a thread about his mother in the LFC section unless it is to discuss how the death of his mother will impact on LFC.

I disagree, I think this thread and the respect shown by most fans should be commended.

I too commend the respect being shown on this thread, but the thread is out of place here, unless we are discussing his mother's death by reference to LFC.

Well i drew the line at YNWA as i feel that's inappropriate.

....and it should be in the general football thread.

If people on here want to mourn Frank's mother, by all means go ahead. Move this thread to general footy where it belongs though if people are going to get prissy about us discussing LFC in it.

Chelsea star Frank Lampard gathers with family to pay last respects to his mum

Frank Lampard today was with his family to pay their last respects to the Chelsea midfielder's mother.


Devastated Frank was yesterday told his ill mum, Pat, 58, who has been on a life support machine, was highly unlikely to pull through.


The England star, who played in Chelsea's 1-1 Champions League semi-final first leg draw at Anfield on Tuesday because his mum's condition appeared to have improved, raced from Merseyside to keep vigil at Pat's bedside as she battled severe pneumonia.

I hope she pulls through after being killed off by the daily mail.

It has been confirmed by Chelsea that she has now passed away.

The daily mail have got that badly wrong. They had said in the morning that she had died. Then they back-tracked at 2.00pm and now chelsea confirm the bad news at 2.45pm ish.

Absolutely shocking. Even the Liverpool website had sent out their condolences before chelsea actually confirmed it. They might have had news from direct sources but it still seems odd nevertheless.

As for me - i send my sincerest apologies to frank and his family and having gone through a similar experience I can say that this was not a wind up and I thought the news from the daily mail was geniune.

The Chelsea star missed Premier League games against Wigan and Everton to be at his mother's bedside. But, when her condition improved, he returned for Tuesday night's Champions League semi-final first leg 1-1 draw at Anfield.

He returned to be at her bedside after the match but her health suddenly worsened and she passed away after a battle with pneumonia.

Sad news. He was very brave to play on Tuesday night.

Its never easy losing a close family member especially a mother.

Anyway on a side note i truly hope this distraction puts him off next wednesday and we can go and win at the bridge. Surely he will not play on Saturday and i can just imagine his mind wont be on football.
