not so much a **** it nothing to do with me fella maybe a bit more of the what can i do to help meOriginally posted by Cormack74 View PostThis is the nub of the problem. As Shaggy mentioned earlier Gazza saw his friend killed in an RTA.
He has subsequently said that he feels responsible for the fatality yet he was only a kid at the time.
So he's had 30 something years of torment rightly or wrongly feeling that the accident was his fault. Maybe if his character trait was to say "**** it, nothing to do with me", he wouldn't be suffering now.

Hindsight and clear thinking are a wonderful thing eh.

And that constitutes hindsight and clear thinking in your mind does it? If so you may well be seeing Gazza sooner rather than later.Originally posted by elvoz View Postyeah i mean its not like he has ever been told or warned eh fella

We've all been told to do things in our life that would have benefited us and thought we knew better and in no way am I saying Gazza is a saint. What I will say though is that neither you nor I understand his frame of mind or the complex psychiatric issues that have plagued his life, therefore we have no right to judge him."My commitment to Liverpool is 100 per cent. Just like Gazza I really am not in a position to comment (just like you).Originally posted by elvoz View Postgeorge best fella
sorry my poor english and grammar haunts me

I don't however feel scorn for someone that's had serious problems in their life whether they be addiction or psychiatric illness, no matter how lavish their lifestyle and self destructive they happen to be or are painted as being by the media."My commitment to Liverpool is 100 per cent. Well, that's OK, because we're not judging him. No consequence will come of any conclusion to this conversation, we're just stating our opinion.Originally posted by BFG View Posttherefore we have no right to judge him.
The opinion that he's mentally ill and isn't responsible is just as valid as the opinion that he should have got treatment and is responsible. We can't all agree on everything.
very true. However in my opinion there comes a point where you have to stop using things as an excuse and accept the help and get yourself treatment, then stick with it. Everyone who carries out domestic violence and most people who carry out dcrime of any type have an excuse lurking there in the background. It doesn't make it OK.Originally posted by Cormack74 View PostSo he's had 30 something years of torment rightly or wrongly feeling that the accident was his fault. I didn't say you couldn't, I merely pointed out that you weren't in a position to as you don't know Gascoigne or what's happened to him in his life but why let things as silly as facts and knowledge get in the way of a good demonisation eh?

Look at Elvoz's post below mate. He is clearly judging him based on his own preconceptions. I didn't really have a problem with your post, although I still don't agree with a word. You're clearly not as stupid as he is.Originally posted by EwarWoo View PostWell, that's OK, because we're not judging him. there's a world of difference between real mental illness and some of the stuff people are coming out with. It strikes me that Gazza's alcohol problem is just a way to try and neutralise the underlying (real problem which is causing the illness)problem. Some people will just never understand what a traumatic event can do to some people with poor wiring (or even good wiring) until it happens to them.
A lot of people with alcoholism are using it to try and escape the real problems and this leads to more serious problems.
