My bad. Is he even allowed to drive these days ? maybe that issue has already been addressed then.

He may not be allowed to drive, but getting in a car with someone over the limit shows he still cannot make correct basic decisions. Is this a good idea? No, I'll carry on and do it then.

No sympathy, I'm afraid. Not being nasty but he has had the life most of us dream about and all of this is self inflicted.

He's suffered with an addiction, unless you live with one you cant understand it.

I've been through it a million times on here but I can't understand why anyone would 'hate' the guy. He's got so many problems, addictions and all the rest of it, counselled since the age of 7....he's a wreck and he needs help, not castigation all the time.

I'm kinda biased cos in Italia 90 I was 12 going on 13 and I idolised the guy. He was my favourite non-LFC player by a mile. What a great, great player he was, and a great character too. In fact he was the last of the old school, the last of the pre-media training footballers.

Not sure it's been reported on here. Only a matter of time until he packs in isn't it?

Former football star Paul Gascoigne has been arrested after an alleged drunken assault at a railway station.

The 46-year-old ex-England and Newcastle player, who left rehab in the United States earlier this year, was held after an incident in Hertfordshire.

A Hertfordshire Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called to a report of a man allegedly being drunk and disorderly at Stevenage railway station at 10.30pm on Thursday July 4.

"Officers attended the location and arrested a 46-year-old male on suspicion of common assault and being drunk and disorderly."

He was taken into custody but was not charged, police added.

The Mirror reported that Gascoigne had grabbed a security guard by the throat before attacking ex-wife Sheryl Gascoigne when she tried to step in. According to the newspaper, he was bailed after being held in a police cell for 12 hours overnight.

Earlier this year, Gascoigne said he wanted to "get back to reality" after the latest health scare in his battle with alcohol addiction.

He told ITV1's Daybreak in March: "'I didn't ask to be an alcoholic, but I must admit I worked on it. 'I went to any lengths to get my drink, I'll go even further to stay sober."

Just an endless cycle of disaster. He doesn't seem able to conquer it. Sad.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Paul Gascoigne: Ronnie Irani urges support after relapse

Former England cricketer Ronnie Irani has urged people not to lose patience with Paul Gascoigne after the ex-football star was reportedly involved in a drunken disturbance on Monday.

Gascoigne was taken to hospital after police were called to a London hotel.
Irani helped pay to send Gascoigne, 46, to an alcoholism-treatment clinic in the United States earlier this year.

"People feel they have been let down by Paul but you must always keep trying," Irani, 41, told BBC Radio 5 live.

"Never give up on anybody. I can understand that [people have lost patience] because there are people out there who haven't had the chance that Paul Gascoigne has had to fly to Arizona.

"But for me he is a different case because of the public reaction to him.
"Everyone wants a piece of him and he gives it them because he is a nice guy. People take chunks out him and he allows that."

Irani, along with some of Gascoigne's celebrity friends, including television presenter Chris Evans and ex-Tottenham and England team-mate Gary Lineker, funded his trip to the clinic in Phoenix in February.

"We were told it would be tough for him to get out there because it cost a lot of money. But money was irrelevant - we just wanted to help him out," said ex-Essex player Irani, who met Gascoigne on the after-dinner speaking circuit.

"We knew the stats were going to be against us. According to the experts, one in 10 recover from alcoholism. It's a horrible disease."

But Irani admitted he fears for Gascoigne's life after the former England midfielder was taken to hospital on Monday.

Police confirmed they were called to reports of a man causing a disturbance at a hotel in Russell Square and that the man was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The latest incident came days after Gascoigne's arrest over an alleged drunken assault.
"Are we surprised [that Gascoigne is reportedly drinking again]? No. It's sad. But we just hope and pray he can get through it again," said Irani.

"He has some good people around him. People have a go and say 'where are his real friends?' and you shake your head.

"He has got some top people around him but he has to make his own choices. It's down to him - but this disease tricks you."

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Horrifying picture tbh, actually genuinely scarey to see someone become like that. Really hate to say it but I just expect the inevitable news about him now.
