NOTW: City sign Eto'o & Tevez

Eto'o, Tevez, Santa Cruz, Robinho, Bellamy (he'll be pleased he went there ), Benjani, Caicedo, Evans and many, many more

    Surely this can't be true...

    By AIDAN MAGEE, 27/06/2009
MANCHESTER CITY have completed a £25million swoop for Barcelona strike ace Samuel Eto'o.

And they will take their summer spending past the £90m mark by this week confirming they have also landed £30m hitman Carlos Tevez from Manchester United.

Cameroon star Eto'o, 28, is expected to travel to Manchester in the next few days to finalise the deal. Argentine Tevez will sign a four-year deal worth around £140,000 a week on Wednesday.

Eto'o, who initially demanded £200,000 a week after tax, will put pen to paper on a five-year deal worth £180k a week after tax, with further bonuses tied to success.

A source said: "The player could have earned similar money at Barca. But Eto'o and his people think City could be going places and is excited by the type of players they are attracting."

Eto'o's path to City appears to have been cleared by Barca, who are negotiating a £13m deal for Palmeiras whizz Keirrison. Sources believe the Brazilian will then be loaned to Valencia, in return for them letting David Villa go to the Nou Camp for £37m.

City have already spent £30m on Gareth Barry and Roque Santa Cruz.

A team of strikers, a team of strikers

Number one is a striker etc....

            £180,000 a week after tax?

whats that pre tax - about £350000?

I can't believe thats true - would be over £18 million a year in wages.

              The fockers.
Hope he doesn't go to city or any other premiership club.

Also it says that boswinga and joe cole could be on their way out of the bridge.
If its true ,we must try to sign cole.

exactly, they will be left exposed by signing all these strikers, just not the way to build a team

Mock them all you want but City are going places. They've got a very good midfield and Eto'o and Tevez will be world class for them up front. If they get a few top class defenders (i.e Toure, Lescott, Maicon), they'll overtake Arsenal, at least. Their strength in depth will be insane.

but you can only play xi at a time, to fit these egos in will be impossible.

also, they have a very good youth system which will be shot to pieces now. They have lost sturridge (though he seems to have swapped one reserve team for another) and who knows who else will leave

Tevez isn't an egomaniac, neither is Robinho who's really matured during the last season. Eto'o is a far better professional than people give him credit for. They'll do well. Very well.

They've got Ireland who's class for them, and they've got Wright-Phillips and Richards who'll stick around. That's already more home grown players than what we and Chelsea have. Michael Johnson too, if he gets back in shape. And Onuoha. Did I miss anyone else?

I think they are building a good team tbf, although they won't be self sustainable by - never! But their midfield of Johnson, De Jong, Fernandes, Ireland etc. is decent enough, although they could use a top top midfielder to go with the attacking talent.

So, two or three more top additions in defence and midfield and they will be going places IMO.
                          * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Yep, and add Martin Petrov to the midfield.

Eto'o is a workaholic and anyone who says he's lazy or a prima-donna has never watched him play.

It's not easy to cobble together a load of 'galacticos' but I agree, City will at least usurp Arsenal at this rate.

By paying him a large % of any income generated by his name to offshore company owned by him and a smaller wage his tax will be significantly smaller
