And Et'oo is being forced out the club (or is he.....reports say E'too been offered a contract extension are surfacing now, but on the same wage he is currently on) and is digging his heels in, and if i was in that position i'd do what Eto'o is doing.

OK fair enough, we really don't have to agree. Guess we don't even know the half of it either.
      * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Probably not, but healthy debate is always fun, unless it's with Craig_24 or Sarb_H...actually, thinking of Sarb, there was another poster around at the same time (not Rashid) who was just as negative, and left at the same time, but i cannae remeber his name?? Anyone??

when it looked like Xabi was going to be sold last year, did he once start throwing his toys out of the pram and start threatening to run down his contract?

          rubbish comparison imo

          the other guy was rage.

It never got that far with Alonso tho, cos it was all just speculation. I don't think the player or his agent ever got in contact with Juve officials. Whereas Eto'o appeared to be almost out the door, and wasn't having it.

Besides which, moving from Barca to City is a huge slap in the face.

Far as im aware Etoo has been stalling on a new contract for over a year now and as he still hadn't signed at the end of the season Barca decided it was time to sell him. Man City told them they were ready to make a big offer and so Barca were happy enough. Now though Barca don't seem to be making any progress on replacing him and Madrid are buying big. So i assume they are worried they can't replace him now and need to hold onto him

All these money demands that Eto'o is after sounds like him stalling and not wanting to go anywhere near City. Reports now suggest that barca have offered him a 2 year extension.

In fairness if Barca were trying to force me out to go to Man City I'd want alot of compensation from them.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Shock horror, the NOTW were talking bollocks. City snubbed again.

Manchester City have ended their interest in Barcelona's Cameroon international striker Samuel Eto'o.

The two clubs had been in talks over the £25m-rated striker after Barca told the 28-year-old Eto'o they were prepared to let him leave the Nou Camp.

City chief executive Garry Cook said: "The circumstances surrounding him were such that a deal couldn't be completed.

Eto'o is the second marquee player City have missed out on following Kaka's decision not to sign in January.

City reportedly made a bid in the region of £100m for the Brazilian midfielder, but he opted to stay with AC Milan, before joining Real Madrid in a £60m transfer in June.

Reports suggested the Eastlands club told Eto'o he could earn wages of up to £250,000 per week, which would have made him the highest-paid player in the world.

But the transfer became bogged down in a contractual dispute between Eto'o and Barcelona, who has been offered a new two-year contract by the Catalan club.

Eto'o cost Barcelona £16m when he signed from Mallorca in 2004 and the Cameroon forward has scored more than 100 goals in his five seasons with the club.

He helped the Catalan side win a treble trophy haul of the Spanish league title, domestic cup and Champions League in the 2008-2009 campaign.

City's summer spending so far has seen them sign striker Roque Santa Cruz from Blackburn for £18m and Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry for £12m.

Manchester City have agreed a five-year deal to sign former West Ham and Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez.

The 25-year-old Argentine forward, who left Old Trafford last month, will complete his move subject to a medical.

"It's terrific news," City boss Mark Hughes said. "He is an international of the highest class who possesses all the attributes to help drive us forward.

"This is yet another deal that shows the commitment of the owner to make this club the very best it can be."

Tevez, who will wear the number 32 shirt at Eastlands, spent a season with West Ham before joining United on an extended loan deal in 2007.

He started 99 league and cup matches for Sir Alex Ferguson's team and scored 34 goals, but decided to leave despite being offered a permanent contract.

Tevez without Eto'o is a far less dangerous player. I felt that them two would have facilitated each other very well. With Adebayor or Santa Cruz, he won't be as effective.
