No doubt about it, Citeh will upset a few of the big boys next season and I fully expect them to challenge for a top 6 spot at worst.
If they add a couple of world class defenders they will definitely be in with a shout for a top 4 spot IMO."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley

I liked this quote
'A source said: "The player could have earned similar money at Barca. But Eto'o and his people think City could be going places and is excited by the type of players they are attracting."

Obviously Eto'o is getting frustrated playing for mid table Barca where the best he can hope for is a cup run and a UEFA cup place.

I hear/see many writing them off, saying things like "money isn't everything, there's so much more to football than just buying players", and of course they are spot on, but money also buys you the top people in the game that put such things in place, like the team building aspect and tactical know how.
City are on their way, like it or not they WILL be a force in the Prem...sooner or later, probably sooner, ie.. 2-3 seasons.Last edited by Vermilion; 28-06-09, 11:59 AM.

1130 BST: Manchester City have made a "stratospheric" offer to Samuel Eto'o according to Barcelona president Joan Laporta. (Catalan radio station iCat FM)
"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."
I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Robinho - Interesting comment. For me he looked like a petulent kid all season. He played when it suited him and the going was good. He fought for nothing whenever I saw him. Having better players around him will improve him and ensure that there are more times when the going is good I assume but I'm still not a huge fan.Originally posted by JohnDoe View PostTevez isn't an egomaniac, neither is Robinho who's really matured during the last season. Eto'o is a far better professional than people give him credit for. They'll do well. Very well.
Eto'o - I agree does put in a shift it is more a case of his personality within a group that seems to be a valid criticism. It will be very interesting to see how he does at City.
The more I think of it the more all of the players listed here potentially offer as much of the problem as the solution. Ireland is at his best when told to do whatever and not have a particular tactical which is much the same as Robinho in some ways. Wright-Phillips is in an odd stage of development and seems to be best in the middle at the minute and to be less consistent than the likes of Lennon on the wing. Richards the same - both need to re-find their way and will present a big test to Hughes as manager, possibly even a bigger one than managing the bigger stars egos.Originally posted by JohnDoe View PostThey've got Ireland who's class for them, and they've got Wright-Phillips and Richards who'll stick around. That's already more home grown players than what we and Chelsea have. Michael Johnson too, if he gets back in shape. And Onuoha. Did I miss anyone else?
I'm not so sure. I think there is a lot of improvement possible in last seasons Arsenal team from the players who were already there. If they can get Adebayors head right or replace him well then I think they will be closer to the top. It is going to be a very interesting season.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostYep, and add Martin Petrov to the midfield.
Eto'o is a workaholic and anyone who says he's lazy or a prima-donna has never watched him play.
It's not easy to cobble together a load of 'galacticos' but I agree, City will at least usurp Arsenal at this rate."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."
