Well Panenka has to get a tribute really in this kind of threat, I mean he after all got a penalty named after him, and had his cool way above anyone else.

I mean this is in the '76 EC cup final!! - the bloody final and he does his famous kick!

I always felt confident that Phil Neal was going to score, so it surprises me to find out that he missed 12 in all comps and scored 38. Molby missed 3 but scored 42.

I'd agree that Murphy was as good as anyone I've seen, though I remember ex-West Ham full back Ray Stewart scoring about a million penalties in his career, mainly by ****ting the ball as hard as he could and assuming that the keeper would choose to get out of the way. It generally worked.

I think this GK has been watching too much Dudek.

The penalty taker has the last laugh.

I was a brilliant penalty taker back in the day. Loved taking pens.

As for the pros, i was always very confident when Super Dan took ours. Ice-cool the fella, very composed and cultered.

There's been several other greats through the years: Le Tiss, Zidane, Ballack, Shearer to name but a few.

I've also never missed one, having taken them for almost every team since I was a nipper. Including goals in cup semi-finals and a final in Uni

Passing was my forte - long or short but particularly mid-range to long...I could land it on a sixpence - and so I think a few managers thought I'd be good at slotting pens.

Missed my first one very young...under 11s or something. Not close enough to the corner and the keeper saved the *******. It ruined my confidence for ages, until I took one on a school tour of Austria, in a shoot-out. Exactly the same, keeper saved it. Didn't take another for a while until about the under 16s when we had no takers for a late penalty to equalise in a Cup game. Hit the the inside of the post.

I used to get very nervous...hated the feeling of being so exposed. In training or whatever I'd slot them right into the side netting.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
