Lets just hope that Rafa can get the first eleven playing something like football so hes around to oversee the development of these youngsters.

It also must be taken into consideration how meticulous Rafa is he will be monitoring the physical and mental development of these youngsters very, very closely imo.
I think you also need to take into account that players peak at different ages.

We'd all love to see a youngster come through our ranks along the lines of Owen/Rooney.

Everton have done well with their youth.

Vaughan and Baxter have both been at Everton since they were 10 years old and add Rodwell into the mix, they have proved that there is young talent out there and you don't always have to go to Spain etc

tell me about it, I was labelled the new Sean Dundee, it wrecked my 5-a-side career

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Only Rodwell is - possibly - likely to make it in the Premier League. Vaughan and Baxter have got no chance. It's only because Everton don't have the profile of a club like Liverpool that they can't attract foreign youngsters and because they see finishing in the top half as a real achievement they have to include players like Vaughan and Baxter, who wouldn't get anywhere near the first team of the top Premier League clubs at this stage of their careers. So it's more a case of Everton's lower standards and aspirations that gives these players a chance rather than being a positive reflection of the merit of Everton's youth system

I would guess Insua is an example of a young player getting a chance in the first team as well as N'gog having gotten quite a few games by now.

Plessis also got his chances last season, but I'm afraid he won't make it.

I agree that we haven't produced any top PL players in the last 10 years or so, which is a bit worrisome, but I think we are getting back on track, and hopefully we will see the product of Rafas focus in the next couple of years.

You seem very keen to write off Baxter, he's what 17?

I agree that it is easier for Everton to bring through players to a certain level as their targets are lower though. Vaughn is, I think older than Ngog, has played twice as many games and scored about as many goals as far as I can tell for example but then I guess Ngog got experience in France.

Our production line has nonetheless underperformed relative to United and Evertons in recent years and it is something we seem to be trying to address.

                    He's a striker.

The youngest to play for them I believe, at 16.

Good stuff. Encouraging to all the other lads at the academy too.
