Perhaps as reina and Rafa are such thoroughly decent chaps, we're doing an honourable thing in reuniting them. Perhaps its the clubs way of thanking them for their loyal service. Can we all move on now.

Agree, but it's repetitive mate. Not as repetitive as Neil's dog pictures though, and he is the one who should be castigated and sack the most.Originally posted by Tee View PostArn is an easy target though isn't he? We can all take the piss out of old Arn but hey we still love him.
Player leaves, some are upset some don't give a damn and some are just waiting for all the facts before commenting.
Like I said, opinions are there to be aired and in this place 99.9% of the time they are formed on the back of speculation.
Are we winning?

If this is true it doesnt look that good a dealOriginally posted by Shaggy View PostI heard there was a loan fee but no contribution to his wages.

If Reina is earning £100K per week we'd need to be getting a £5.2 million loan fee just to cover his wagesOriginally posted by Reece View PostDepends how much the loan fee is though, no?
Seems a lot to me
I'd personally be surprised if we got much over half that amountBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

I was travelling for work when this went down yesterday, but personally I think it is fine.
Simon Mignolet is a better keeper than Pepe Reina. Don't take my word for it, Rodgers thinks so too. He's young, was absolutely the right buy for the club; Premiership experienced, outstanding player, international, great shot stopper who commands his box. Our team have looked terrible defending set pieces for years now and Reina is a part of that problem. The only area where he may be less capable is distribution, but from all accounts, he is doing fine there as well.
So, we upgraded when the right player was available.
Reina has been a fantastic servant to the club and wants a move to Barça. We can give him that move, just not this year because of Valdes, so why not loan him out, let him play, stop paying his wages and sell him on next year.
With no move to Barça on the cards this year and us not wanting to upgrade Arsenal, would his value be greater sitting on our bench behind a superior keeper this year or by playing full time as a first choice in Italy/CL? Obviously it is better to have him in the shop window in Italy and not on our bench.
Depth in case of an injury? OK. But not at Pepe's wage and not at this position... Mignolet should start every game if he can. This is not the Andy Carroll situation; we have Reina's direct replacement signed and he is a better player than Pepe.
I cannot for the life of me see how this is a bad move in any way. So we don't get a fee this yesar? No one was going to pay a fee this year. This is best for Reina and for us (he plays and shows his value). Next summer, he goes.
