maybe if we were not so lightweight up front and from midfield goal wise then the odd blip in pepe's concentration wouldnt have been so costly. if our susceptibility to the counter was sorted out [system] then the defence wouldnt look so frail and reina wouldnt be so exposed.
all goalies make mistakes, cech has make his share too. pepe has made some poor individual errors, though.

I haven't seen much of Butland, but I don't like the idea because he'll be expensive and he is untested, selling your first choice keeper and replacing him with a kid is a massive gamble.
Adopting to the new system could take some time but Reina has been on decline even before BR came and if he continues to regress we will seriously need to consider other options and Brad Jones would not be one of them.

Sad to say it but I worry every single time there is a shot on goal as I have very little confidence that he will make the save.

I hope he turns the corner coz at one point in time he was the best goalkeeper in PL but at the moment he is not even close to that level.

I think that our system is still evolving at the moment, I don't see why the sweeper keeper role couldn't work with the way Rodgers wants to play, if we want to play that way we would be best keeping Reina and I think we would start to see his form improve. If on the other hand we want a system that relies on shot stopping above anything else I think will have to look elsewhere.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Enough with this 'sweeper keeper' bull**** already.

Pepe played well today, made two really crucial saves that i can remember and his quick and accurate throws out to the likes of sterling were very useful for starting fast counter-attacking moves.

Massive saves at 2 nil up and just before half time. Starting to show his true class, like Stevie.

Save from Kilgallon at close range was awesome.

Gary Jacob has just finished a Times webchat

@garyjacob again quotes @TonyEvansTimes in the webchat. Tony says #LFC looking to get rid of #Reina due to high wages (doesn't say when)

**** off. If we want to get rid of him because of his performances - fine, I accept that - but he has been a top keeper for us and he has earned whatever salary he is on.

                          .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I agree on Pepe. But people (me) are saying this on Gerrard and Carra too, and got pelters for it.

Gerrard and Carra are well into their 30s though. Pepe's in his prime, especially as a keeper.

We've shed an extraordinary amount off the wage bill. Assuming this is true of course - a big assumption I know - are we never gonna have any high earners ever again? Top players get big money. Or do we want to be mid-table? Jeez.

                              Hopefully it's total bollocks.

Perhaps it is more about the level of performance relative to the wage. I tend to think it would be madness. If we get a settled team I think we'll see Reina back to his best.
