You forgot about the supreme talent that is Lukasz Fabianski:

“Let me surprise you: Lukasz Fabianski could become the best goalkeeper in the Premier League, even better than Wojciech Szczesny”, claimed Wenger.
    Oh dear

I'd be dismayed at *any less* than £18m, including £15m. Not enough. I'd want £20m. But Reece talked of getting £10m. Way, way too low.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

How could I forget Flappyhandski?! Oh... yeah... because he's always either injured or complete gash.

For some reason I thought I'd heard on SSN that Fabianski was doing nets in the Championship. Just googled it and although I was wrong, can't believe the ****er is 27. I thought he was about 22.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

That's what happens when you waste your career away fighting two other **** keepers for the chance to flap at crosses and be beaten at your near post in a defensively-crap Arsenal team.

For all the good he's done Arsenal - Wenger is WANK at signing keepers at defenders.

Maybe it shows how difficult signing a really good keeper is. We had no one outstanding after Grobelaar left until Reina arrived.
              .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Possibly but with Wenger I think it comes down to money - he's determined to find a good keeper for a couple of million. £10M for Lloris was a great price, it really was - especially when you compare it to £18M for Doughnuts.

That’s why I’d be so reluctant to let Pepe go. Despite our own problems replacing Grobelaar, just look at the problems Ferguson and Wenger have had replacing Seaman and Schmeichel (VDS aside). Quality keepers are in very short supply, despite a few decent ones performing well for mid table sides.

                    I honestly didn't copy you.

Maybe. But how many great keepers has Ferguson signed since Schmeichel? You could make an argument for Barthez but still I'd say the answer is less than one.

Any keeper can have a good spell, even a great season perhaps, but nearly all of them are not good enough taken over a long enough period.

But he spent quite big on Wright and if rumours are to believed, would spend big on Reina.

One - Van Der Sar - and even then he was hit and miss at times, he had his best years elsewhere.

In my opinion though - you need to invest in a keeper, the best ones generally do go for a lot of money simply because it's a position where you tend to stick with one person - possibly for a decade - so it's worth (to me anyway) spending... say... €22M on Manuel Neuer and he could be Bayern keeper into his mid-30's.

Early to mid-20's is the best time to be buying one.

Yeah... now... after eight trophyless years and constant abuse for not signing any decent keepers.

No you couldn't. Don't even think Craig_H could if we let him back in.

I forgot about Van Der Sar. But I'd still say he wasn't great at Man Utd, as said, his best years were before he signed for them.

And yeah, Barthez was **** but I know some people thought he did ok for them.

                                Barthez was ****ing wank.

Me and my mates used to play a game called "Barthez" - played on a half sized pitch and it was one-on-one, you couldn't dribble past the halfway line and the objective was to lob the opposing keeper in tribute to how easy it was to lob that egg-headed cunt.
