I've couldn't even make an educated guess as to upcoming goalkeepers, but I certainly hope we get this right, if true, obv.

So, is he decent? Is he better than Butland?

He's a bloody good keeper, I've not seen as much of him as I'd like to (footballing wise, you pervs) but Mr. Smith seems to think he's better than Butland:

"I think Ter Stegen better than Butland but i have no idea if LFC are looking at him."

I'm just unsure about young English keepers in general - so many look good and then just crumble under the pressure.

Butland is not really good from what I know of him. Then I might have watched the wrong match when he played ****, but his kicking was appalling.

Special talent and whoever gets him will have potentially top goalkeeper for long, long time.

Butland's distribution is not anything like at that level yet. But he's really young, perhaps he can work on it. Not what we'd want as a first choice straight away though, at least where those attributes are concerned. No idea about the foreign-based keepers.

The obvious replacement as a 'sweeper keeper' in this league would be Vorm.

I agree with this, Butland is far too raw to be starting as no.1 IMO. I'd take him and loan him out if we could afford it but other than that I really don't see the point, his kicking is worse than Brad Jones'

Vorm would be 1st choice for me, best fit for us. Is he a little injury prone though?

ter Stagen seems like a bit of a fantasy signing to me, Leno would be well worth a look at too.

I think if Reina leaves as well, it won't be to Barcelona. I think Barcelona will look to complete a deal for Courtois and Reina would likely move to Atletico.

Kasper Schmeichel may be somewhere in between...
He started out competing with Joe Hart at City, but since Hart was english and prefered by Hughes, K. Schmeichel had to go on loan/get a transfer. Read his story here:

I don't think they too different in terms of ability but my thinking behind it is how good Vorm is with his feet, he's played in a similar set up for Rodgers.

I wouldn't be unhappy with Krul though at all, its no coincidence his form has dipped at a time when Newcastle have missed any stability at the back and missing Tiote who is massive for them.

I'd much rather Reina stay until the summer and if he wants to move on so be it, he'll be missed because he was one of the best for a time with us and I love the bloke.

Ochoa was linked recently he'd be interesting, a lot more of a risk too.

Krul has been subject to some injuries this year, which affected his form but last year was one the best goalkeepers in PL.

Very young (only 24) and imo has the potential and ability to be a top notch, which is why I see him as a long term solution if it gets to that.

Vorm is a good goalkeeper and safe option due to familiarity with BR but personally I prefer Krul who is also ahead of him in Dutch NT.

That said, both goalkeepers are good and solid choices and would be good replacements if Pepe leaves.

Also I don't think Pepe will leave until perhaps summer as we will not release him until we find the replacement and with a week to go that's very unlikely.
