Nobody died, he'll be fondly remembered by all I'm sure.
you see this is the problem with our fans.

we want loyalty from suarez but in return we dont show any to other players.

If pepe hasn't expressed a desire to leave then I'm sure he would be our #1 next season, his ninth. And I don't want loyalty from Suarez either, I want him to leave. And is it really a problem?

        So no.

But what is loyal about 'I'll go if a certain club comes in for me, but if they don't you can give me a new contract'. Isn't that just acting like a doormat though? The club took the initiative and who knows whether his letter is 100% accurate. Maybe, he told the club that Barca were going to bid for him.

He'd have been off if Barca had come in at the end of the window and we'd have been left short. Who would have been disloyal then? it's all fine lines really

I have absolutely no qualms with him having his head turned by Barca, especially after 8 years with us. They are his club, not to mention one of the best teams in the world. We would expect the same from a Scouse LFC fan playing for another club. We'd all do the same if we played for someone else and LFC came in for us. Pepe owed us nothing - the level of loyalty he showed to us, for a foreign player, and the way he bought into the club and the city far exceeded what we expect from most foreign players.

There is no loyalty in football, unless someone needs something from someone else. Then the loyalty card is trotted out.

On one hand, the club expects Suarez to remain loyal and honour his contract, on the other hand, they reward 8 years excellent service from a major player like this. Once a player is deemed to be surplus to requirements, they are discarded. Be it youth players, those players who made it through the ranks but not quite made top quality, the journeymen, and even legends.

Football stinks. But it has always stunk.

              Well said Dom.

We want Suarez to stay and to honour his contract, but a lot of our fans are calling for Downing and Spearing to go, (me included, we're all hypocrites ) even though the club gave them long-term deals.

              That's football I suppose.

Sad the way that Reina has gone but if he was keen on a move back to Barca then you can see why we've picked up Mingolet and loaned out Reina to save wages.

His desire to sign for Barca at this stage of his career (and personal life) was totally understandable. If anything, Barca are the ones who have shafted him because they must have sent feelers out through his agent that they would be in for him this summer, and then did not bid which put Pepe in an awkward situation with us.

Totally agree. I think maybe we had his best years, either that or he needs a change to get back his best form because he's been declining for a couple of years. Him going to Barca would have been best for all.

The club really can't moan about that the players should show loyalty or that they own the club loyalty because the club clearly don't give a **** about showing it.

Can clearly understand if Suarez is desperate to leave if this is the way the club show loyalty.

I bet if Suarez writes an open letter when he leaves saying he left because the club promised signings they didn't make, there will be many who feel sorry for him

Truth is, in football it's all PR. No one knows how it really went down. You can't say whether it's 100% correct what Reina said or 100% correct what Rodgers said. Everyone is going to make themselves look right and the better person.

Just take all this stuff with a huge pinch of salt. The right decision for the club was made. That is all

Ah yes. Suarez wants to leave due to a lack of loyalty from the club

An interesting point and certainly possible.

It’s a shame it has played out like this. I’m sure Pepe would have willingly joined Napoli if it was explained to him he was surplus to requirements after the Barca move fell through and we signed Mignolet.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
