Big difference between £20m being talked about and actually being offered.

His wages make it very difficult to get any sort of decent money for him.

It wouldn't be if he were the Reina of say 3 or 4 years ago though. 2 or 3 years on the spin golden glove I think it was. Arsenal were very serious about him.

If we got €5m for him and didn't have to pay up anything on his contract I'd drive him to wherever he needs to go.

Sadly we'll probably be mugged as usual get threepence ha'penny for a fee and end up paying half his wages for the next couple of years

Excellent save from Pepe just now in the EL......that adds another 50quid.

Apparantly arsenal did offer £20m at the time

De Laurentiis told a press conference in the wake of Sunday's 2-0 victory over table-topping Juventus: "After yesterday's victory I went down to the locker room and I promised the players a bonus if they can finish second.

"Then I talked to Reina and told him that he must remain with us. I want him confirmed for next season.

"He was happy, for him it was a double reward."

Played a part in Napoli's second goal last night for anyone that didn't see it: quick long throw out enabling a cross from which Mertens scored.

I think given his high wages that's not such a bad fee. Assuming that we don't have to cover any agents fees in the deal.

shame - great keeper for us, great character

but it was the right move to bring in the 'future' and i'm confident that mignolet will keep improving - shame reina isn't a couple years older and prepared to be our experienced 2nd choice keeper if that makes sense....he's just too good to be 2nd choice at the moment and at this stage of his career will want as much first team action as he can.

get as much as we can and good luck

Excellent news (if true): A tug of war between Napoli and Barca' is precisely what we want in terms of getting a decent fee for him.

Napoli goalkeeper Pepe Reina says he is pleased to be linked with a return to boyhood club Barcelona.

The 31-year-old is on-loan at San Paolo from Liverpool until the end of the season but admits he is still unsure where he will be come August.

“My future? To be linked to Barcelona pleases me a lot,” Reina today told Al Premier Toque. “But at the moment I just want to concentrate on Napoli.

“In the summer I will evaluate my situation with Liverpool.”

The Spaniard then insisted he and his teammates still believe they can finish second in Serie A this season.

“Our aim is to finish in second place even though it will be very difficult.

“There is also a great desire within the dressing room to win the Coppa Italia.”

The problem with that is Barca's transfer ban for the next two windows.
