Well there's one club that definitely wants him...they wanted him last year but came to us cap in hand, no doubt promising to buy. A year later they played their hand again, came to us again saying thanks but no thanks, but if you really don't want him we might be able to accommodate you again.
Regardless of the benefits of offloading big wages, bravo Napoli. Well played lads. They're not quite at Southampton level, but well played indeed."I will make the boys feel your support"

its so good to have reina back to challenge, we need a quality back up keeper, etc
like that was ever going to happen.
we need to smarten up. only loan out youngsters for experience. if an old pro wont go then sell to anyone for whatever we can get. just move them on.
get ready for the same bitchslapping tictacs with lucas
removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

I guess it depends on how you viewed the aim of letting a first team squad, international player out on a loan to a top tier Italian club who had been spending money like drunken sailors.Originally posted by Gibbo View PostI don't see how it's bitch slapping tactics. They offered us close to a free, we didn't need to accept.
I suspect we would have been angling for a permanent fee at the end of the loan period, as well as the benefit of having someone else contribute towards his weekly wage. But even towards the end of last season, Napoli were playing the 'cannot afford him' approach.
We probably said 'sure we'll throw out the feelers to see who might be willing to take him off our hands' and got rebuffed. Reina was done here the moment Mig signed on board, and everything since has been an effort to maximise a return on his lack of use for us.
If he goes on a relative free transfer, you got to accept that Napoli have the better of the deal over the last year, plus will probably only get stung on a signing on fee from Pepe's end. Everyone's happy.......especially Napoli.
Either way, it's a moot point assuming this is true. We've gained on the wage bill, but lost on any hope we had of a few million coming our way (especially last year). Ah well."I will make the boys feel your support"

we should have forced a sale [any sale] rather than allow the original loan. i know time has now moved on and at the end of the day we are just cutting him loose.Originally posted by Gibbo View PostI don't see how it's bitch slapping tactics. i just hope we dont bend too easy when it comes to discussing lucas's future.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
