What a shame - his career will probably peter out into a damp squib now, unless this is a stop gap move before something else becomes available. No way is he going to get past Neuer who is the best keeper in the world, but I suppose playing second fiddle to the absolute best is better than being ignored at Liverpool and seeing Brad Jones getting games before you.

For me, at his peak, the absolute best goalkeeper I have ever seen play for Liverpool.

A handful? He was great for 6 years and to be fair to him, the club as a whole was in the middle of a decline when he started his bad patch. Behind Grobelaar and Clemence, he's been arguably our best keeper.

Perhaps no-one else offer him a big contract and he's better being 2nd choice at Bayern than 3rd choice at LFC.

Rightly or wrongly it would appear that Rodgers isn't willing to forgive and forget.

if it's because of the high wages he had here and they couldn't be matched then you'd think a professional footballer at the tail end of their careers would want to be playing every week so they'd lower their demands?

I don't think so and if I were LFC manager he'd be my first choice going into the season but he's clearly burnt his bridges with Brendan so has to leave.

Do fans forget all the silly goals he let in towards the end? Constantly getting beat at the near post? Ball bouncing off all his fingers and toes on the way into the net?
He was awesome for a period but turned into a liability.
