And to imagine Napoli didn't want to pay that for their first choice keeper... Reina's time as a first choice GK is now completely over and at least we are saving some wages.

Had some good seasons here, a shame his career (here and in general) is ending like this.

Yet Bayern were willing to pay it for a 2nd choice.

Hope he does well there and wish him all the best, but glad someone else is paying his wages.
        Exactly.

Play reserve football for us (if he would even be allowed that) or play cup football for Bayern and feel welcome at your club?

        Tough one.

Reina was a great keeper for us and great character so it's sad to let him go.

I do agree that Mignolet now is our number 1 and we should stick with him and develop, but having Reina's experience as cover would have been great.

the problem is though, you don't want a number 2 keeper on wages that high.

I think to be honest the wages + fee are the issue with Napoli. Pretty clearly needs a change to get back to his best and he might well feel that a season under Guardiola (and whoever has trained Neuer) will set him up to head somewhere smaller as a first choice at the end of his career (31 isn't that old for a keeper). Bayern are probably one of the few clubs capable of paying wages whilst not 100% sure he could be a genuine top class first choice keeper.

People are also forgetting that Napoli signed a keeper last year that was keeping Pepe out of the side until he got injured, so you can maybe understand why the board might be reluctant to splash big on Pepe.

Clearly Napoli didn't rate him high enough and lost out, and that's fair enough, although weird thinking of how low a transfer fee we are talking. Napoli is however playing the transfer market like you would football manager, so it's no great surprise.

I still think it's a strange choice for Reine, if he still had any ambitions towards the national team or being first choice again. It's like he's accepted that his proper career is now over, and he will settle for the money now. He might go on to a smaller club in a couple of years, but still effectively an end to top flight football, which is strange for, as you say, relatively young keeper that have been a top keeper for a long time. With Casillas and Valdes out of the Spanish team, the place is up for graps and he ruled himself out this time.

What a shame - his career will probably peter out into a damp squib now, unless this is a stop gap move before something else becomes available. No way is he going to get past Neuer who is the best keeper in the world, but I suppose playing second fiddle to the absolute best is better than being ignored at Liverpool and seeing Brad Jones getting games before you.

For me, at his peak, the absolute best goalkeeper I have ever seen play for Liverpool.

Looks quite slim there. I'm going to miss him.

Good luck to him. I think he's a better keeper than Mignolet. He was a fantastic servant to this club and it's a shame it's ended like this.
                              Are we winning?
