Is it dead to you ?

        Last nights results are

Wellington Phoenix FC 1 - 4 Brisbane Roar

        Perth Glory 0 - 0 Melbourne Heart

Roar must have done well ( and are top of the ladder ) cause Wellington are hard to beat at home and it's good to see perth get a point cause they've had a shocking run lately .

Yeah, its just one less thing to worry about. Between keeping up to date on here, playing PS3, Uni and Drinking the A-League gets little time from me

Wow. I watched the first 20 of the Adelaide Roar game. Amazing stuff, can't believe it. Roar winning 1-0 have a player sent off and go on to win 4-0! I on and off watched Sydney too, absolutely **** game and the goal was out past the byline, very lucky for us. Mind you this luck could kick-start us for the ACL.

Yeah I saw the goal this am and how the hell the lino and ref missed it is beyond me. We're laughing when they go your way and ready to murder someone when they go against us though hey

Perth lost 1-0 at home again. Robbie hasn't scored has he ?

Tonight's the night Ferny LOL No Nicky Carle or Mark Bridge for your guys. I'll be in Bay 30 behind the goals. Shouldn't be hard to spot in the 2-3K crowd (if you knew what I looked like of course )

Gold Coast keen on happy homecoming

AFTER three weeks of trekking around the country, fourth-placed Gold Coast United finally return home this weekend with current Hyundai A-League Champions Sydney FC the visitors to Skilled Park on Friday evening.

It’s been a good few weeks for Gold Coast, having picked up seven points from a possible nine in their last three outings on the road, including wins against North Queensland Fury and Melbourne Victory.

Unbeaten away from their home ground, Miron Bleiberg’s men will need to bring that form to their own turf this week if they are to keep pace with the top two, a fact that is not lost on United’s mentor.

“Brisbane are on the top and they deserve to be on the top, so it’s important that we don’t lose points if we have aspirations to be up there too,” he said.

“We’ve had some good results away, but it’s always nice to be at home and we are expecting to perform accordingly.

“If we want to be there around the top, then first and foremost we have to perform and win our home games. Away wins are a bonus and they can take you from sixth to fifth or fifth to fourth, etc, but home games are a must and on the eve of the game we see it as a must-win match.”

In four meetings Sydney have never beaten Gold Coast and on current form the odds would appear to heavily favour United, who are on a run of nine games without defeat and have become renowned this season for being difficult to beat. But Bleiberg has never been one to read too much into historical data, preferring to take each game, and opponent, as they come along.

“I don’t believe history between teams makes a difference to the outcome of a match. Just because the cards fall red six times it doesn't mean the next card will be black. Sometimes you hear bad statistics about a match and sometimes good. This one is a good statistic, so I am glad to hear it, but I don’t think it will have any bearing on the game.

“I hope last week’s win will be a big confidence boost for us, but over confidence can lead to complacency. Hopefully, it’s only confidence that we take into this game.”

United welcome back attacking weapons James Brown and Tahj Minniecon to their ranks after the pair sat out the trip to Melbourne due to illness. Also included in Bleiberg’s provisional 18-man squad are young guns Ben Halloran and Chris Harold, who both performed admirably at Etihad Stadium.

With an increasing number of fit players to choose from, Bleiberg has already ruled out an early return for striker Bruce Djite who is still troubled by a hamstring strain. Defender John Curtis is closing in on full fitness, but the United boss remains hesitant to rush him back into premature action.

“We have two training sessions left before the match and Bruce Djite is 100% a non-starter,” said Bleiberg.

“There is still a question mark over John Curtis and with this type of injury I’m not sure that I’ll be in a hurry to put him in. We might give him another week to improve his match fitness or give him a run in the youth team this week. Defensively, the team performed very well in the last game so there is no need to rush him back.”

You are probably right. Our home form can be dire TBH. Joel Porter to score the winner for me. 1-0 I think
