So, how good is Wayne Rooney?

There's no doubt he is a top quality player when on form, but form is a word used all too often when talking about Wayne Rooney. How often have we, United fans, used the phrase "he just needs a goal."? Far too often imo.

Now make no mistake, i'm not pleased he's going and I'd rather he stayed but I don't think it's going to impact us that badly. There was only really last season when he was the main man for us and, goals aside, it wasn't his best season for us anyway.

So just how good is Wayne Rooney then? Has he really done anything to justify the level of hype around him? How often has he dominated big games for United or England?
