Basket case countries with no footballing heritage and outside the top 40 in the world should be barred from hosting. The USA was bad enough and they have it all infrastrcture wise, so much for the "global football family".

And as said the football and atmosphere were ****.
      Are we winning?

By then it'll all be billion-colour VR holograms implanted in our heads. And England will still lose and Andy Gray will still be talking cack.
          .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

That's pathetic - you make it sound like some exclusive boys club, where only a select few should be allowed in.

Football is a global game and if they have the means to host it, they deserve to have their chance.

Same went for USA, Korea/Japan, South Africa etc.

I hope now the press go full out to expose any corruption in the bidding process, even if it looks like sour grapes. FIFA is rotten to the core! Blatter has done bugger all for the game in his 12(?) years as president except be involved in scandals it's time someone else took over.

Equally as daft as South Africa being top seeded, or S.Korea and Japan in 2002.

No qualms with them hosting it, but i think that a team has to hold a decent ranking position, to be given a 'top seed' slot.

I suspect the majority of english football fans dont go to world cups to do any sightseeing or take in the local culture

In any case, by 2022, i fully expect Qatar to have developed 'indoor cities' and massive indoor complexes, where the entire thing is built indoors and air-conditioned to the max.

It'll be fine, they'll find a way around it.

Well done to our esteemed 'free press' - bunch of arrogant, egotistical ignorant ******s.

Can anybody give me example of any good things the press have done??? all they seem to do is go on witch hunts and print lies

In a statement from shadow Secretary of State for Sport Ivan Lewis, the Labour Party called for an independent root and branch inquiry into the failed bid.

"Despite the impressive efforts of Team England, supporters will be bitterly disappointed at England's failure to land the 2018 World Cup," said Lewis. "This follows on from the England team's poor performance in South Africa.

"Serious questions have to be answered as to how we can learn lessons from these significant setbacks to build a better future.

"The Coalition and the football authorities should now set up an independent root and branch inquiry into all aspects of how our national game is run."

                          WTF???

Labour are addicted to inquiries. What a tool.

To be fair the press were right to look into this but a bunch of cunts for doing it the worst possible time. Its kind of like telling your bird that you have been ****ing her sister when shes half way down the isle.
