I can see where the point about mentality comes from. He does seem to always have a glaringly poor period of form during every season, often coming straight after an incredible run of form.

I will never forget how awesome he was when he first joined and then his form suddenly went to absolute ****.

As other people have also mentioned earlier (including myself) whenever he starts a game poorly with a misplaced pass or a poor control he never seems to really recover and his confidence seems immediately shot.

He definitely seems a confidence player.

If he's having a dip its the first one in ages.

He has been one of our most consistent players through the Woy/King/Brendan years.

Barely put a foot wrong for club or country in years, but the slightest blip in form and people are all over him again and all the old cliches are back (from other supporters too).

Not really convinced by this mental weakness/confidence player opinion.

I do feel though that the targetting of him in the air by some teams has resulted in a loss of form of late. My feeling is that at present our defence is very badly balanced - a lack of aerial strength and two attacking fullbacks just isn't providing a secure platform for the team. Individuals form tends to suffer when the part of the team they play in is over stretched.

Add the fact our CMs aren't protecting the back four as effectively as they usually do, and you've got a recipe for disaster.

Completely agree, he's just suffering a bit of a dip in form, all players have them from time to time. He's still the best RB in the league.

Just because I feel as though people slightly misunderstood my intention... I still think Johnson is an excellent right back and I would not be too keen on trading him for many other Right Backs in world football, if any. I just feel as though he can be patchy, I guess when you think about it, all players are patchy. Enrique was at the start of the season and so was Gerrard for a few games as well as Allen now.

I can understand peoples frustrations. With a dip in form, you'd expect him to go about his business, nothing spectacular, but still do a job. With Glen, we've got someone who looks like he's just woken up and been released from a cryogenic facility.

This is the most frustrating thing about him. I would prefer his off games to be 6/10, rather than 3 or 4/10. He'd be truly world class once he can achieve that. Maybe Rodgers can eek it out of him over time, like he eeked something out of Downing (which was a downright miracle).

Generally we're just a team that's poor in the air.

Very few players can play with the same intensity and at the same high level for entire season and it is not surprise that his form dipped somewhat but imo he is/was still solid.

Personally he is the least of our defensive problems and atm there isn't a RB I'd swap him with.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
