Think this summer should be about adding players not selling first teamers. Should only look to move on fringe players who never get a game and ate unlikely to next season

Totally unnecessary disruption in my view.
Also you look at the clubs who would be in for Johnson should we make him available and it tells its own story. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Cheaper gambles...... Lets keep the core of the squad together, We will be playing more games next year I just don't see the need to gamble on a spot where we are well covered and other areas should be addressed before.Originally posted by Rich View Post
He is also expensive to keep - I can't imagine he'd agree to a drop in wages but I don't think he's worth the reputed £100k+ pw wage packet.
There must be cheaper alternatives.
Also bringing in a younger, cheaper alternative could hold back our excellent full back prospects we have, At 29 he is good for a few seasons yet_____________________________________
Weak willed, Wank or do they have a masterplan?
Think we have the answer..Slot!!

Because they canOriginally posted by dom9 View PostI think it's even common practice for players to get signing on fees for contract extensions. I think...
Madness if true. What is the fee even in respect of?

i'd defo prefer to keep johnson.
we're not in a city or chelsea position where we can just go an buy anyone we want regardless of price and to replace johnson, we'd have to spend what? £10m? £15m? and we've seen how difficult it is attracting players.....even if we are a back in CL it doesn't guarentee everyone wants to come here....because we'd still have city/chelsea/psg/real madrid all offering ridiculous wages just for the sake of it.
we're only going to have a limited budget and there are two or three other areas that need improving before we chop and change right back.
there is the issue with wages and his form for this season at times was ****ing woeful....but that was before we knew he was carrying a knock (whether this was a physical or mental thing we don't know - could have been his ankle, could have been his head was having a wobble of wages/an other offer) - but since coming back from his break, he's been much better and seems to have got over whatever his issue wasLast edited by PTP; 25-03-14, 10:56 AM.i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Rodgers: Johnson back to his best
Brendan Rodgers believes Glen Johnson is demonstrating the sort of form that has long had him regarded as one of world football's leading full-backs.
The defender returned to the starting line-up against Swansea City last week after a period on the sidelines due to injury.
Rodgers feels the period out of the team has allowed Johnson to regain his fitness and turn in some excellent displays.
"It's been really difficult for Glen because he has wanted to give so much more," said the boss.
"He has wanted to put himself out on the training pitch every day and play games but he was nowhere near 100 per cent right. Of course when you put yourself out there you are getting judged.
"That is why we had to give him that time out. There was no timeline on it. I just knew there was so much more to come from him.
"We needed to come together to find a way to get him back to his best. That meant taking him out in order for him to get back to that level.
"Now he's feeling fresh and playing for the first time in ages without any injuries. Now you see that mobility and running power that he has.
"I thought Glen was outstanding against Cardiff. He showed his strength and power for Daniel Sturridge's goal with how he executed that pass for Luis [Suarez].
"For our first goal, it was all about his running power without the ball and he put in a great cross for Luis.
"It's important for me with how we play that the full-backs can get up, join in and make runs in behind. We are seeing now the player we all know Liverpool had - which is one of the best full-backs in the world."Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

yeah i know he was having issues with his ankle - you could see that from the way he **** out of tackles...Originally posted by Shaggy View PostIt was his ankle mainly but the club said he was carrying "a number of injuries".
but for all we know, on top of that he might have been having a bit of a wobble over wages/contract/interest from other clubs....the brendog being such a good man manager, just took him out of it - go and have a rest...get your head sorted, get you knocks sorted
we were told he was out 'indefinitely' - a few weeks later he's back and looked a different person - i'm not one to create speculation or any of that ****, but it does look likely that he there might have been a bit more to it than just a bad ankle he needed to get sortedi own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

He's been poor for most of the season. Only Glen knows if that was because of injury or because he lost focus due to his contract situation. Hope we can convince him to stay though because a fit and motivated Glenjo is IMO the best right back in the division. For most of this season, however, he's not even been the best right back at the club.
No way he'll take a cut in wages IMO.

You say core of the squad but he's only played half the games this season, our best in years. We can cope without him, replacing him would cost more in the short term but should leave us in a better position in a few years time; a 32 year old RB on 100k a week is not going to be ideal, will he ever be available to play? I don't feel strongly either way but I would rather twist than stick if the right alternatives are identified.Originally posted by red g View PostCheaper gambles......
