That he is a "pissed up waster" undoubtedly hinders his recovery and probably contributes to picking up so many injuries. No idea if he just likes boozing too much or has a problem - if the latter then I'd have sympathy for him. But to me it just looks like his attitude is all wrong.

That's the point though Dom, regardless of what you or I would do if someone was paying us £100k a week, he shouldn't be like that. He has a debt of gratitude to his club that requires him to be in the peak of fitness. That's a minimum requirement IMO

He's a ****** who doesn't deserve it. If his ability to perform when he was at Liverpool was hampered by his off field shenanigins, then it cost us dearly. I don't see how it's affected him financially, he got a pay rise to leave ffs

A couple of my mates saw him out drinking in Covent Garden on a Friday afternoon a few weeks back when he should have been in the middle of his injury rehab.

I don't agree with that. I would probably have been the same.

I don't see pics of them looking absolutely rat arsed. There has also been the odd pic of him pissed surfacing during the season. He clearly drinks too much for a so-called top footballer. It's a real British affliction.

My thoughts exactly, although I do wish him well in his recovery.

Its not something we seem to have done since or will do in the future.

Its all well and good saying someone should have been sacked for the decision nearly 3 years down the line. But at the time I guess it was made for the right reasons.
If you sign someone for £35m then you must IMO have scouted him very closely for at least a year. That means that you will know everything you need to know about his off the pitch life etc.

I agree with you that he was a PR signing. If we would have sold Torres and not replaced him with anyone in the same window then FSG would have been hanged by us fans because of what Gillett and Hicks did.

Our scouts did a very poor job when they recommended that he would be a good signing. Deserved to be sacked.

Even if you only carry one kilo extra weight then that extra weight means that the risk to get injured will be bigger etc.
