    Yup.

I've never been his biggest fan but he's really improved since January.

According to Wiki he now has nine in 49 appearances for us (in all comps). I'd like to see what his goals-per-minutes are. If we're talking minutes then he must be close to a goal every three games I would guess. Doesn't sound so bad when you look at it like that.

I still want more from him though.

He's very limited, but I really hope he's given a chance to grow in confidence by starting on Saturday. He deserves it.

I doubt Kenny will pick him, it'll be Suarez and Kuyt.

He's not fast but his all round game was way improved over what has usually been comedic attempts to control the ball.

I think we all want him to do well because he's our No9 but I feel so frustrated with him as it seems sometimes like he doesn't put enough of a shift in. And also the fact that he moans at everyone else as well.

Let's hope tonight is the night where he comes of age and becomes our No9 that we hoped he would have been from the outset.

I really hope he does, i think I saw we have a much better win percentage with Suarez, Gerrard AND Carroll on the pitch together.

Can't be just coincidence can it?

This has been bugging me for ages, so i went through the official site and worked it out, once and for all. And the results are here. On a game-by-game basis, the number of minutes he played, the opposition, if it was a cup game and if he scored:

                27 games - 7 goals
                1 goal per 346 mins

Basically just slightly better than one goal per four games. Not good enough as a goal return, but he is improving.

I think, if he played and started more consistently (he has never started more than 3 consecutive games for us), it'd be closer to one in three.

Fine Margins dont win games unfortunately..

For Andy Carroll to be a prolific striker, teams need to play their tactics around him. LFC will never do that with him..
Therefore he will always be frustrated, come close, or nick the odd one or two, etc..

He needs to stay on his feet a lot more and stop giving it the whole F"Off everytime he goes down on his knees in the box..

He doesnt need to be a prolific striker, he just needs to play his part in the team.

Played well and worked hard. Missed that chance from the glorious Bellamy cross and I thought it was going to be another one of those games but he battled on.

We need someone in the team to score regularly! We don't get enough goals from midfield and Suarez doesn't appear to be a prolific scorer.

                          Cheers for that Craig.

Like you say, I still want better than a goal in every four, but it winds me up when cunts say "Oh he hasn't scored in seventeen games", when the poor ******* has only played a minute in each.

Giving him 90 minutes every game for the rest of the season would do him a world of good. Get some decent widemen in for next season and there's no reason why he can't hit 15 or 20 goals.

With the right players and tactics around him..

Does anyone actually know what his strengths are.

Do we get rid of Downing etc, for not putting in the decent balls, or Carroll for not scoring?

If everyone chips in and the midfielders do too, then we'd be fine.

The point is, you're right that Suarez doesnt score enough, neither do the midfielders - yet Carroll is the one who gets criticised for it, not the others.

We need him to be prolific, no two ways about it. If he can't do it, then we need someone who can.
