He gave us 100%, tried be involved on both ends of the pitch and even though he missed a sitter he came back and sealed this incredible victory.Originally posted by Gibbo9 View PostWell done for getting the goal, but wasn't amazing, his best effort was probably the one on our goal
He's positive and you can see he is really trying, i just wish he had some pace!Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

****ing hell mate, who was 'amazing' ? He worked his arse off, was left to lead the line alone and ultimately he's the matchwinner.Originally posted by Gibbo9 View PostWell done for getting the goal, but wasn't amazing, his best effort was probably the one on our goal

They say a striker can miss sitters but score a winner and be the hero, but evidently not.

He played well as a target man, was our best defender on many occasion, actually our only bloody defender once or twice and scored a belter.Originally posted by Gibbo9 View PostWell done for getting the goal, but wasn't amazing, his best effort was probably the one on our goal

I was talking about his goal when I mentioned it not being amazing mate, not his performance.Originally posted by Craig_H View Post****ing hell mate, who was 'amazing' ? He worked his arse off, was left to lead the line alone and ultimately he's the matchwinner.

When Crouch was Carroll's age he was in the process of being bombed out of Villa and bouncing from one mediocre South Coast team to another.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostI think he's shown several glimpses, but then automatically been dropped for the next game, which is helping nobody.
One can make a comparison between Crouch and Carroll, but i'm not sure how fair a comparison it can be because Crouch was much further down the line when he played for us (and obviously now) than Carroll is.A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Dropping him after a good display doesnt really give him much chance of that, though.Originally posted by NigelLG View PostHe worked his bollocks off. Great game today. Did his shift in defence as well. The lad's improving despite what the bashers say. He needs to be more consistent.

He did a great job of holding up the play, his touch was nice and precise. I think anyone else playing up front on their own would have failed badly against 10 men. We kept Carroll on for the reason of being a man to hold up the play so our support could arrive. If people expect him to be technically gifted or running at players with pace then they have the wrong idea. As a target man he did all that could be asked of him tonight and also got a goal that was very much deserved.
