He gave us 100%, tried be involved on both ends of the pitch and even though he missed a sitter he came back and sealed this incredible victory.

He played well as a target man, was our best defender on many occasion, actually our only bloody defender once or twice and scored a belter.

I think he's shown several glimpses, but then automatically been dropped for the next game, which is helping nobody.

One can make a comparison between Crouch and Carroll, but i'm not sure how fair a comparison it can be because Crouch was much further down the line when he played for us (and obviously now) than Carroll is.

He did a great job of holding up the play, his touch was nice and precise. I think anyone else playing up front on their own would have failed badly against 10 men. We kept Carroll on for the reason of being a man to hold up the play so our support could arrive. If people expect him to be technically gifted or running at players with pace then they have the wrong idea. As a target man he did all that could be asked of him tonight and also got a goal that was very much deserved.
