'ANDY CARROLL DID THIS TO ME AND IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME TILL HE HURTS SOMEONE ELSE'

A MAN nearly blinded by Andy Carroll in a nightclub assault has warned that the £35million football ace will find himself in trouble again.

Sunday League player Michael Cook has also branded Liverpool’s new signing a “loose cannon”.

Speaking for the first time about the bust-up Michael, 27, declared: “It’s only a matter of time before he hurts someone else.”

He added: “He’s got a short temper and he just can’t control it. He’s cocky and arrogant and he’s already got a violent past.

“I think the same thing will happen again, with the money he’s on and how big and important he thinks he is. He’s had fights with team-mates and he’s had the nightclub incident with me. What next?”

England striker Carroll, 22, who moved to Liverpool last month from Newcastle, had been boozing for 11 hours and had downed up to nine pints on the day of the incident.

Trouble flared after painter and decorator Michael bumped into a female friend of Carroll’s in the Blu Bambu club in Newcastle city centre.

Her drink was spilled and she threw the remainder over Michael.

He retaliated by throwing his drink over the pretty brunette.

Michael said: “Suddenly Andy Carroll was in front of me and I was hit in the face with a vodka tumbler glass.

“I panicked. There was blood gushing from my face, it was terrible.

“Moments after the glass hit me one of the bouncers had come over to me and the barman pointed out Andy Carroll to him. The bouncer said ‘Who did that?’ I was in shock.

“I suffered a really deep gash just half an inch above my right eye and another across my nose. The nurse in casualty who stitched me up said I’d been very lucky not to be blinded.”

Michael revealed he suffered terrible headaches after the incident and added: “I’d also been threatened when I’d been out in Newcastle by people who had heard I was Andy Carroll’s victim.”

Carroll, now earning £80,000 a week at Anfield, was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm. On the day the trial was due to start last October he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of common assault.

The player said he had only meant to throw his drink over Michael and that his glass had accidentally slipped from his hand.

He was fined £1,000 and ordered to pay £1,494 costs and £2,500 compensation to Michael.

Keen Magpies fan Michael, once a midfielder with Northern League Crook Town, said: “Outside court I saw Carroll laughing and shaking hands with his legal team. That was gutting.”

He said of Carroll’s big Kop move: “Signing him taints the name of a great football club. Some role model!”

Well you throw your drink over a woman, you get hurt.

Hopefully this or similar kind of behavior is behind him and he learned from his mistakes. Next time he won't get off that easily. .

This type of outbursts can cost us dearly. He needs to stop pronto and/or enter an anger management program if this is still an issue.

TBH, we knew the package when we signed. Hopefully Kenny will be in his ear throughout his injury explaining what's available to him now he's at the next/highest level.

And hopefully Carroll is growing up mentally. Fast.

Yeah but i dont think we signed him on the basis that he carries on getting into these situations.

hopefully he realises the opportunity he's been given with this move and grow up and move on from this kind of ****.

I think we need another couple of these stores, maybe one involving Carroll putting a bouncer in hospital, just to cement his reputation as a complete double hard nutter. Just enough to put the ****s up every defender and goalkeeper. Then he needs to calm it down and be a good boy.

You go about throwing drink over women. Someone's going to put you in your place.

I bet he thinks twice next time.

No one deserves to end up potentially blind.
