They should have done that then. Accepted his appeal against the red card, then given him a red card retrospectively for the offence the referee missed. That way, everyone is happy!Originally posted by meffin View PostDidn't big Andy elbow him earlier in the game though? From watching MOTD, i seem to remember there was an earlier incident that he should have been sent off for..?

The FA were never going to over-rule it there was contact so they can claim the decision was right, the only things they will over turn are cases of mistaken identity or if there was clearly no contact.Originally posted by john316 View Post
Was also convinced because Howard Webb was the ref, the FA would not want to overrule their supposed 'senior' ref.
To over-rule a decision where there is contact i) risks undermining the referee and ii) would lead to loads more people appealing against decisions opening up a huge can of worms regarding severity of contact with is impossible to define clearly. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

They're worried that a three game ban for Andy Carroll could reduce their chances of staying up? Haven't they seen him play?Originally posted by Fivex View PostYep, hoping this has some substance.
Could get twitchy for the FA if they really do take things further but I think they'll wind their necks in pretty quickly.Never knowingly optimistic
