I think he did the right thing. If he'd tried to kick that ball he would probably have dislocated at least one of his hips and ****in skied it anyway. Plus he's pretty poor at turning, which he would have needed to do to aim at the goal there, so he knew if he kept running he would have ended up at the corner flag. His only realistic option was to fall over. He played the percentages.

I think the big difference was that Crouch had a positive effect of the team, Carroll's play hasn't done this sadly. Crouch had also had a much more positive effect over his first year and was after this amount of time, well past his drought, Carroll hasn't shown anything like that no has he shown the basic skills of being a player who is good enough.
