Alan Shearer praised Andy Carroll after his double strike on Monday night.
Carroll scored his first Liverpool goals in the 3-0 win over Man City and his performance won him the praise of his former manager.
Andy is excellent, I like the way he bullies defenders," said Shearer.
"He's a no-nonsense type of centre-forward - technically good, devastating in the air with a rocket left foot, and deceptively fast.
"What's more, Andy is mentally very strong, which is so important. During all his off-field problems up here, he never let anything affect his game."Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

Not the ones I know (and that's too many by far)Originally posted by Daniel 7 View PostInteresting that a few of my geordie acquaintances are quite glad to see the back of him - "trouble making croc" was one statement I heard. A lot of them seem to be with Mike Ashley on this one, and considering how much he is reviled up there, thats quite a sentiment.
They all seem to wish great misfortune upon him, "break a leg" was a hope I've heard several express, but almost to a man they've said things like "Liverpool fans just won't appreciate him like we did" and act like he's the second coming of Shearer or something.
When I've countered them by repeating, "yeah, but £35m like, its an AWFUL lot of money" they don't care about that because they reckon Ashley will pocket it all.
The one's you've been talking to must be even more bitter than mine
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

Andy Carroll
Trouble making croc.
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

I’m no ‘Big Dunc’ says new Liverpool FC hero Andy Carroll

HE stands six feet three inches tall, was a fearsome Newcastle centre-forward and enjoys something of a colourful off-field reputation.
But Andy Carroll insists the similarities end there, as he insists: Don’t call me Duncan!
Liverpool’s record signing, who opened his goals account for the Reds in spectacular fashion on Monday night, admits he is aware of constant comparisons with former Everton and Newcastle striker Duncan Ferguson.
But he says he actually modelled his game on Tyneside and England goalscoring legend Alan Shearer.
And he hopes he can become almost as prolific as the most feared goalscorer of modern times.
Carroll said: “I always used to watch Alan Shearer. I had a season ticket and me and my cousin used to go and watch Shearer play. The goals he scored were amazing. I looked up to him. He was my hero.
“Everyone compares me to Duncan Ferguson now but I wasn’t always tall.
“I was quite small when I was a young player and had a growth spurt later on. I wasn’t a target man. So I used to watch Shearer more than I did Ferguson.
“The goals he scored were amazing which is why I used to focus on watching him.
“He was unbelievable. I think he scored half with his feet as well as his headers and think I’m capable of doing that as well.”
Carroll advertised his ability to do just that on Monday night when he struck twice against Manchester City – first with his feet and then a spectacular, soaring header. The three points Liverpool collected took them to within five points of fifth placed Tottenham, with a Spurs visit to Anfield still to come and kept alive hopes of the Reds making a late surge to claim a Europa League place next season.
Since playing in the European Cup in 1964 Liverpool have failed to qualify for Europe – the banned years apart – just three times.
And Carroll admits the current squad has not given up hope of reeling in Tottenham and enjoying another Europa League campaign.
“Obviously it’s at the back of everybody’s minds,” he added. “Everyone wants to be in that fifth position and everyone knows that we are capable of doing it.
“We’ve just got to work hard and try to make sure we get three points every week and hopefully Tottenham will have a slip up.
“I think every player wants to play in Europe and coming to a club like Liverpool it’s expected. All the other lads want to be in Europe as much as me.
“All we can do is work as hard as we can to make sure we get there.”
Liverpool have a stern test at Arsenal this weekend which they must overcome if they are to succeed in that European aim, but having already scored a winner this season at the Emirates for Newcastle Carroll is confident.
“All the Newcastle lads played well that day,” he added. “We need to work hard to close them down and make sure that we don’t give them space or time on the ball because we know what a good side Arsenal are
“The goal is my main memory of that game. It was a great ball in from Joey Barton and it was something that we’d practised in training beforehand. He put it right where I wanted it and the keeper was in two minds whether to come and claim it or not and I got there first and put it in the back of the net.
“There’s no reason why Liverpool can’t win there and all the lads are confident that we can beat Arsenal.”
Carroll was wearing the number nine shirt that afternoon, a cherished institution on Tyneside and a number he has been delighted to inherit at Anfield.
“At Newcastle the number was free and that was the number that I wanted so I asked for it,” he explained.
“Being handed the number nine at Newcastle was a great moment for me and respect to Chris Hughton for giving it to me because it was my first full season in the Premier League. But I think I showed I could do it.
“It’s a massive number at both clubs. Coming to Liverpool and getting it was good for me. This is a great club and there’s been so many legends who have worn it in the past. Hopefully I can do it justice and add my name to that list.”Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

Think you're getting a bit carried away there Alan!
Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

Always, keep your face to the sun, and shadows will fall behind you.

He hasn't showed it for us yet, but he surprised me a few times when playing for Newcastle. Although I knew he wasn't fully fit I couldn't believe how slow he looked for us at the start, but he seemed a lot more mobile at the weekend. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

The defender headed it against Carroll's head so I wouldn't exactly call it a lesson in timing..
