Andy Carroll - West Hahahaham player

Yep, hoping this has some substance.

Could get twitchy for the FA if they really do take things further but I think they'll wind their necks in pretty quickly.

I dont think it was a red but didnt think it could be overturned easily either, hes took a little swing at his midrift and hes been bent low and hit him on the head. The intent was there but **** all in it

They overturned the Spurs one despite the rear leg making contact long before the outstretched leg touched the ball

The FA were never going to over-rule it there was contact so they can claim the decision was right, the only things they will over turn are cases of mistaken identity or if there was clearly no contact.

To over-rule a decision where there is contact i) risks undermining the referee and ii) would lead to loads more people appealing against decisions opening up a huge can of worms regarding severity of contact with is impossible to define clearly.

Why would they ban him though? They obviously thought Carroll did enough to get sent off, and as it stands simulation is only a yellow card punishment.

The fact that Cheato Florres didn't get any kind of ban is what makes Carroll's red card even more harsh

They should have done that then. Accepted his appeal against the red card, then given him a red card retrospectively for the offence the referee missed. That way, everyone is happy!

Thread should have been locked, to be fair.

No red for me, it was a needly 50-50 and Flores feigned injury to get him sent off. And his cheating is rewarded with an upheld verdict. Bad times.

If you accidentally hit someone with your arm, do you look at what you've hit or at the ref? It's hardly irrefutable evidence, but I'm inclined to believe Carroll was trying to clip him.
