I'm not so sure, I think he's played better for us previously. His stats are helped by taking penalties. That's not to say he isn't doing excellently at the minute though.

Also...he is our no.2 penalty taker behind Gerrard. When Stevie is back, would anyone make Dirk our regular taker? Given that he's 100% for us...?
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I would, although in fairness Stevie has never really missed many has he?

I said years ago that he was our best penalty taker, but the confidence boost he visibly got from scoring yesterday should be reason enough to promote him.

True, but when choosing a penalty taker I think you should always back against the Englishman.

Gerrard has scored 24 and missed 7 from 31 for us, giving a 77% success rate

Kuyt has scored 8 from 8 giving a 100% success rate

True, but most of those misses were in his early years.

I wasn't really thinking of the goals scored alone, but also how he has played as a part of the team, and his link up with Suarez have been great. He fits in much better with the team, and has provided more offensively than I can remember him doing before. His game is lifted by having such a good mover off the ball around him now, and one which his gaming style fits so well.

                            Marky and Frank weren't wrong.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

True, but he has missed 2 of his last 8

I guess it is more difficult for a regular penalty taker because there is more footage for opposition to view of where he puts them, with the technology around now that must make it easier for a keeper.

More than just the first page - the whole thread is quite amusing. An example of the comments made by one poster (I shan't name names but it's easy to work out! ), in chronological order, since this thread started:

I have said it countless times, that kuyt is simply not good enough for an att pos in the pl.
useless player in any offensive position.
he is pants in any offensive position
But even in the Rafa day's noone was excited about Kuyt's skill or first touch and he was under criticism for that, but he could ride it off with his work ethics and his very disciplined approach that suited Rafa well. Now that is not enough any longer.
one good game does not make him a great or generally usefull player
good squad player.... it's impossible to say anything negative towards his attitude, proffesionalism and work ethics.

Great guy to have in the team, and he has been one of our most consistent players this season and I'm happy he has extended his stay. Will be usefull for many positions.
He most certainly is in his best form, he has been fantastic the last couple of months

I think the person in question must work in politics, because he's completely reversed his opinion without once admitting that he was wrong.

I love the 'most consistent players this season' comment, given that two months ago (and 7 months into the season) he was apparently pants.
