delighted for him. finally gets a winners medal after 6 years of hard graft, professionalism and consistently coming up with the goods in the biggest of games.
i think he'll leave us the summer, and it'll be a sad day. kenny should really show him a little more respect than he has done so far this season.
he's a credit to the club in every sense of the word. top man, top pro, and a top footballer.

he means that by daring to drop a player who's legs have gone and has been decidely average at best this season.Originally posted by Mostar View PostWhat do you mean?
he's played his part by scoring the winner against utd and his cameo yesterday. big congrats to him. but we all know in our hearts of hearts that we need someone better on the right.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

yeah, you're right actually. we have the brilliant henderson on the right so there's really no place for kuyt.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View Posthe means that by daring to drop a player who's legs have gone and has been decidely average at best this season.

Dirk has started 18 games this season, hardly left out in the cold. Whats this so called disrespect anyway?Originally posted by Roger View Postyeah, you're right actually. we have the brilliant henderson on the right so there's really no place for kuyt.
And, what was your old username?

i mean that he's being overlooked time and time again for a lad that isn't anywhere near as productive, hard-working, experienced and generally better.Originally posted by Mostar View PostWhat do you mean?
he's being ****ed about too much. i'm not saying that he should start every game because he wouldn't, but when there's lads like henderson and downing that play ahead of him, it doesn't sit right with me and it's as if kenny's playing them because he paid the guts of £40million on them, and he's desperately hoping they prove their worth...but it's to the detriment of the team.

Dirk is not the same Dirk as 2/3 seasons ago. Don't think his engine is what it used to be, he's shown that a few times this season.Originally posted by Roger View Posti mean that he's being overlooked time and time again for a lad that isn't anywhere near as productive, hard-working, experienced and generally better.

still left out too much for my liking. more so in the big games. henderson shouldn't start ahead of him. same goes for downing unless he can keep producing performances like yesterday - which i highly doubt.Originally posted by Chris View PostDirk has started 18 games this season, hardly left out in the cold. and what are you on about what's your old username??? you strike me as someone who's paranoid beyond control. stop being so uptight and searching for little things to have a pop at people.
i do think you raise some good points at times, but you seem to relish putting people down and making out they're against the club because the points they make aren't always as positive as you seem to want/expect.Last edited by Roger; 27-02-12, 11:18 PM.

I would absolutely have started Kuyt yesterday. Henderson has not been setting the world alight (not that he mightn't in the future) and Dirk has always been a big game player. I totally agree with you there.Originally posted by Roger View Poststill left out too much for my liking. more so in the big games. henderson shouldn't start ahead of him. same goes for downing unless he can keep producing performances like yesterday - which i highly doubt.
However, I don't agree Kenny has "treated him badly" or w/e this season. He has started a good chunk of our game and really has not been great in most of them. People have rightly started to worry that his legs have gone a bit, and with Dirk, if that was happening what would really be left? Doesn't mean he should be thrown on the scrap heap, but playing intermittently (as he has) seems fair enough to me.
As for leaving, I'd be sad to see him go, always been a huge fan of the guy both on and off the pitch, but if someone was prepared to give us £5m+ I think it would be fair enough to sell.I could not dig, I dared not rob:

I think a fair criticism of his use this season is that he has mostly been on the right and our midfield has often been somewhat flat - he has always struggled when asked to play that deep. We've struggled up top and I think he should have been given more chances there. That said the 'disrespect' angle hold no water with me.Originally posted by MrMichael View PostI would absolutely have started Kuyt yesterday. I'm not completely convinced that Dirk is less athletic than he was. I think we play a type of football where he is less useful in midfield as his lack of pace (which was never a huge asset of his) has been exposed. I think this is one of the reasons we use Henderson there - looking to get a runner in midfield to help more rapid transitions. For me it doesn't work with a lack of structure elsewhere in midfield."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."
