He did extend his contract for one more year but I cannot see him staying past summer.

He still wants to play regular football and with us he'll need to get use to much more diminished role.

Great impact player and yesterday not only he scored in extra time but he converted his penatly kick when others didn't.

Great servant to this club and pic of him and Luis on his back is one of my favorites from yesterday.

He will be off to Italy in the summer

He's one of the most frustrating players we've had; routinely poor control and passing, yet yesterday when he came on his control and passing were spot on. He's got bottle though, and is never afraid to step up and take a pen in a pressure situation.

i mean that he's being overlooked time and time again for a lad that isn't anywhere near as productive, hard-working, experienced and generally better.

he's being ****ed about too much. i'm not saying that he should start every game because he wouldn't, but when there's lads like henderson and downing that play ahead of him, it doesn't sit right with me and it's as if kenny's playing them because he paid the guts of £40million on them, and he's desperately hoping they prove their worth...but it's to the detriment of the team.

Dirk is not the same Dirk as 2/3 seasons ago. Don't think his engine is what it used to be, he's shown that a few times this season.

i do think you raise some good points at times, but you seem to relish putting people down and making out they're against the club because the points they make aren't always as positive as you seem to want/expect.

I would absolutely have started Kuyt yesterday. Henderson has not been setting the world alight (not that he mightn't in the future) and Dirk has always been a big game player. I totally agree with you there.

However, I don't agree Kenny has "treated him badly" or w/e this season. He has started a good chunk of our game and really has not been great in most of them. People have rightly started to worry that his legs have gone a bit, and with Dirk, if that was happening what would really be left? Doesn't mean he should be thrown on the scrap heap, but playing intermittently (as he has) seems fair enough to me.

As for leaving, I'd be sad to see him go, always been a huge fan of the guy both on and off the pitch, but if someone was prepared to give us £5m+ I think it would be fair enough to sell.

I think a fair criticism of his use this season is that he has mostly been on the right and our midfield has often been somewhat flat - he has always struggled when asked to play that deep. We've struggled up top and I think he should have been given more chances there. That said the 'disrespect' angle hold no water with me.

I'm not completely convinced that Dirk is less athletic than he was. I think we play a type of football where he is less useful in midfield as his lack of pace (which was never a huge asset of his) has been exposed. I think this is one of the reasons we use Henderson there - looking to get a runner in midfield to help more rapid transitions. For me it doesn't work with a lack of structure elsewhere in midfield.
