They've also been without Higuain who scored 29 goals for them last season.

Because they don't play the tippy tappy stuff, that means they're defensive and boring does it? Is it a crime for Mourinho to have a plan to stop Barca smashing his team 5-0 again?
I bet you weren't complaining when we managed to dump Barca out of the Champions League in 2007, with similar tactics.
i get your point. i dont recall us letting the grass grow to stop them playing. Also we didnt have the players you mention and hadnt spent a similar fortune assembling that squad.

Exactly Real Madrid's squad is the single most expensive ever assembled and he still has to play like minnows. I remember when he was crying about Martin Jol's Spurs 'parking the bus'. Oh the irony

That's true, but Rafa set his Liverpool team up vs Barca similar to how Mourinho has in their most recent matches with them.
        - close them down, put them under pressure and look to hit them on the break. It sounds simple but it's tough work up against Xavi, Iniesta, Messi and co.

What pisses me off, Mourinho got slaughtered when Barca beat Real 5-0 before Christmas, everyone was saying he tried to play Barca at their own game.
Now after holding Barca to a 1-1 draw, and beating them in a Cup final...he's Mr defensive, anti-football...like wtf do people expect?

yeah Rafa set the team that cost a fraction of madrids. thats the context.

your right he is in a no win situation but thats because after all that money and being so special he cant get a team to outplay barca.

He didn't though. They barely had an attack. Play them at their own game?

What pisses me off, Mourinho is clearly not as special as all the hype he likes to generate.

That's what the experts were saying. He tried to take them on, had no defensive structure in place and as a result his team were thrashed 5-0.

Because everyone loves to hate Mourinho and Real Madrid in general, there'll always be people lining up to have a dig.

Btw, i don't particularly like Mourinho(don't hate him either) but credit where credit's due and all that. I'll be properly gutted if he ends up at the scum.

so rudo do you really think that with the most expensive squad ever assembled the best you should hope for is to play like a john beck team?

Madrid can play with all the talent they have, they just can't because Mourihno doesn't know how to set out his teams differently.
                      Are we winning?

Since when did we as LFC fans demand a pure form of footy? Surely, that's more the realm of WHFC fans?!

We've won plenty of things over the years by nullifying the opposition. For years we'd bore teams to death as we played neat triangles at the back.

OK, we can all dislike Mourinho for his pragmatic ways and double standards but he wants to win things - by any means necessary.

Which is what they did the other night.

lets remember how special this man is.

if he is soo special it cant be hard to get that team playing attractive football and winning things can it.

They play a certain way against Barca, and all of a sudden they're anti-football. Complete horse****.

Big bad Real Madrid not letting little Xavi, Iniesta and Messi have the freedom of the football pitch. Shame on them.

i think your missing my point.

if the special one is soo special you would think with that squad they would be able to play football and beat barca, it seems beyond him to do both .

also this is the same maureen who criticised jol for a similar tactic.

in terms of the freedom of the pitch issue. barca play football and dont let the opposition have the freedom of the pitch. so it is possible.
