According to ESPN there is a Clause in Aguero's contract that prevents him from going to Real

Atletico Madrid have revealed Sergio Aguero cannot leave the club for Real Madrid under the terms of his contract.

    • Aguero signs new deal

Aguero, 22, has regularly been linked with a move to the Bernabeu and Atletico claim they have already received an offer from their local rivals.

However, former Independiente forward Aguero said in 2008 that he would not play for any team whose name begins with the letter R - in reference to both Real Madrid and Racing Club - and it appears there is no prospect of such a move.

Atletico CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin told Onda Cero: "I received offers for Forlan and Aguero from Real Madrid, but Aguero will not join Madrid.

"We agreed on a buy-out clause of €45 million when he signed his contract extension. However, we also agreed that he couldn't' join Real Madrid - not even if they meet his minimum release clause"
The times they are a changin'.

Personally I'm glad he's gone there. Never thought it was a realistic signing for us. I'm just glad Chelsea or City didn't get him!

madrid full interest in the Argentine

Kun was with his agents at the offices of Calderón
        JOSE IGNACIO PEREZ 05/23/1911 - 20:27.

Sergio Aguero has been on Monday with his agents and his father in the offices of the Vicente Calderon for an hour and a half, although they know the reason for his visit because neither Miguel Angel Gil Marin and Enrique Cerezo were in the stadium.

Kun and two of his representatives, his father, Leonel Aguero, Atletico came to the coliseum around 17.30 hours on the private car of the player, who was driving the vehicle and left, if the player with a gesture seriously, 19.30.

Agüero stopped his car to reporters, nor any representations made to leaving the Vicente Calderon. Atletico Madrid Neither has provided any official information about the meeting with the player.

As is known, Aguero is on the agenda of Real Madrid at the express request of Jose Mourinho but so far the organization has always Atletico sent to the Argentine buyout clause of 45 million euros, to avoid possible 'leakage' of his star to the eternal rival.

Independent former player has not spoken openly about their future, so it is related to several major European clubs.

Our rivals are everton and man utd. Everyone else is just another club.

And of course Atletico and Real Madrid are massive rivals.
Mate! You're talking about how FANS see it. Sergio Aguero is not from Madrid. He doesn't give a **** about how Athletico were successful years ago. To him, Athletico and Real are NOT rivals. Although, I doubt it would have changed his decision even if he did believe they were.

And to not consider Chelsea our rivals is just arrogant and living the past. We need to start living in the present mate. Here and now, Chelsea are our rivals. Like it or not, that's a fact. If anything, sad to say, but they would have more of an argument to say we're not rivals because of how results have gone over the past few years.

It's not just how fans see it though - go to Anfield and ask people if Chelsea are our rivals. They'll just laugh. Chelsea fans have attached themselves to us as rivals, to try and rub shoulders with the bigboys, but to us, they're just another club. Rivals doesnt mean people close to us in the league, not to me anyway. They are competitors. Rivals is different to me, there's a massive difference. Chelsea are only seen as rivals (not by me or plenty of others, mind) based on the fact that they are now title challengers. If Chelsea suddenly went back to midtable finishes and relegation battles, would they still be 'rivals' of ours? **** no!

If Everton were fighting relegation every year and we were challenging for the title every year, there'd still be a bitter rivalry between the two - because, whatever happens, we're rivals. Chelsea/Liverpool isnt like that. Proper rivaly has to go beyond who is where in the league, it's based on far more than that.

And Aguero would have had it ingrained into his psyche that Real Madrid are Atletico's bitterest rivals. How you can claim they're not rivals baffles me mate. Atletico detest Real, like we do Man Utd and Everton. That's proper rivalry. Not fecking Chelsea or City.

I'm sure Torres would have gone anywhere - even United hes such a ****ing ****house and I think Chelsea whilst not our major rivals I still hate the **** for going there - mercenary *******

I hated Torres going to chelsea because of the message it exposed - that chelsea were challenging for top honours and we werent - which is true. That's why i hated it, because it just rubs in our face how far we've fallen.

I dont hate it because Chelsea are 'rivals' of ours, cos as you know, they really arent.

Would they not be fans I was talking to?

Ok, I see your point. And if you want to distinguish between current rivals and historic rivals by giving them different names, that's fine. You definitely have a point! Personally, I still think that professional footballers would regard their current 'competitors' as their rivals...
