I've said it all along - it's not over, Barca will beat Real bringing the gap down to 5 points. If Real lose 1 & draw 1, Barca will take it. I know it still looks unlikely but I think it's more likely for it to happen with Real than with Barca...

Leo Messi could draw level or break César Rodríguez’s all-time high goal record which stands at 232 goals. FC Barcelona’s Center of Documentation and Studies started an investigation, in collaboration with La Vanguardia, to verify the exact number of official goals scored by the Barça legend during his time at the Club in the early 1950s.

After studying all of César’s matches, it has been confirmed that Messi is only one goal behind the legendary “Pelucas.” The Argentine has 231 goals in official matches, therefore if the player scores against Granada he will equal César.

The study analysed and compared all of the match reports from César’s Barça career with La Vanguardia’s, a news paper founded in 1881, historical database. The conclusion drawn from the study, not confirmed until today, is that César scored 232 official goals for Barça and not 235. It’s worth noting that César Rodiíguez is the Club’s all-time top goalscorer in official matches, but the absolute record belongs to Paulino Alcántara, who scored 369 goals for Barça in 357 official and friendly matches.

The documentary heritage managed by FC Barcelona’s Center of Documentation and Studies has been instrumental in carrying out major historical research on the Club.

'just literally watched his team get dumped out of the Champions League.

His silky exhibition dribbling skills past bottom half La Liga teams were nowhere to be seen. Come crunch time he decided he would make a better CM and was better needed watching the action from the back with Victor Valdes.

He casually sat deep and decided to be a passenger in the crucial stages. In a team which had no matchwinners; had subbed off Ibrahimovic, was missing Iniesta, and kept Henry on the bench. In the end, Barcelona needed to go all the way back to Gerard Pique for that piece of skill to carve open a goal.

Whoever called him a living 'great' in that thread must have been having a laugh.

I said I wanted to see him against an decent well organised defence, in the deep end, in a Champions League big occasion that mattered. Against a very durable Italian defence which wouldn't stand around like sitting ducks to be dribbled about. Was laughed at, mocked, derided as a moron etc.

As opposed to Rooney. Who only needs a half decent cross, or to receive the ball in the penalty area and BAM! - goal. Who has the heart of a lion and not the size of a pea. Who would NOT play CM when his team needed a ****ing goal. In fact, Manchester United only went out after he got subbed off the pitch with his injury. He had to watch his team go out from the stands. Messi didn't know what a privilege it was just to be on the pitch, with a chance to change the game, and he hid well and truly ran into his shell.

As for Messi, he better buck up his ideas for the World Cup. Greats don't become greats for what they do against disorganised, dilapidated, dejected defences, in games of little significance. His two tap in hattrick against Real Madrid remains his greatest occasion - not enough.

Can he handle the pressure? can he do it against the best teams? can he handle the great occasions? or is he just a show pony who can do the spectacular against poor teams, and little of the extraordinary against the better?'
