Well it's difficult to say as the presence of Comolli muddies the waters somewhat. I suppose the buck stops with Kenny, as the manager, but whoever was to blame we bought some total **** for insane fees. Our one real shot at it and we blew it big time.

Kenny though has more than enough credit in the bank. More than enough.

      Downing seals West Ham switch

      13th Aug 2013 - Latest News

Liverpool Football Club have today confirmed that midfielder Stewart Downing has completed a transfer to Barclays Premier League side West Ham United.

The 29-year-old winger switches to the Hammers after two years with the Reds, following a transfer from Aston Villa during the summer of 2011.

Downing made a total of 91 appearances in Liverpool colours and contributed seven goals.

The England international produced a man-of-the-match performance in winning his only honour with the club, the 2011-12 League Cup.

Everybody at LFC would like to wish Stewart all the best in his future career.

I still don't think the Carroll transfer was as bad a call as it looks now. The fee was inflated due to the circumstances but if he had been fit I do think he was capable of nudging us up into 4th that season.

I think Assasin's point holds though in terms of the type of players Kenny bought in. The style was quite antiquated. I wonder if Clarke had some influence on that too though. It all seemed so odd after the initial style of play he bought with him in his second stint. I still think he could/would have improved given time in the modern game. I'm increasingly happy with the decision to bring in Rodgers though.

So, so odd. Those first few months when Kenny took over were brilliant - flowing, fluid football...Suarez, Maxi, Kuyt and Meireles running amok. It was a joy to watch.

And then he tore it up for.......that. Can't get my head around it.

Commolli was a strange one. But I remember Kenny saying he had the last say on transfers

Yes we blew it bigtime and are still suffering the consequences. But at least it looks like we are getting our house in order with likes of transfers and a greatly reduced wage bill

Likewise, Kenny for me has a vault full of credit.

deep down we could all see it which is why the reaction to his sacking was relatively muted.

I'm not sorry to see him go, but I do think that he'll be good player for West Ham, Carroll as well so maybe it's a win-win in the end. Will be interesting to see how much the wages have gone down over the last two years though, I imagine it's quite a bit.

notBigSam ‏@TheBig_Sam 17h **** me, I've never met anyone as dim and dull as Stewart Downing. He's like that cunt from 'The Boy Who Could Fly'.

notBigSam ‏@TheBig_Sam 17h I was so bored of trying to make conversation with him, that I did that old schoolboy trick of making our conjoined hands look like a fanny.

notBigSam ‏@TheBig_Sam 16h "My mam won't be happy about me seeing this sort of thing," he said. "I got grounded when she found out I had pubes." ****ing hell

notBigSam ‏@TheBig_Sam 16h He was wearing a ****ing bumbag too. And one of those caps where you pull a little string and a pair of attached hands start clapping.

notBigSam ‏@TheBig_Sam 16h And don't ****ing start me on his headband. Who goes into a shop and actually asks for 'Wing Wizard' to be stitched onto a headband? Christ.

notBigSam ‏@TheBig_Sam 16h Thank God I have zumba tonight. Really need to de-stress after that.
