I don't think the team has gelled and we are playing in the worng areas with what looks like a broken team too often. I think we would see more of an effect from several of our players and Downing in particular if our game management was better. I think the main problems we are encountering come from trying to accommodate Suarez and Carroll in the same team and the fact that the Adam/Lucas axis has not controlled where the game is played well enough.

Adam just simply isn't working hard enough for the team at the moment, not as a centre mid anyway. He could play further up field but I think we have better options there.Originally posted by dww View PostI don't think the team has gelled and we are playing in the worng areas with what looks like a broken team too often. How would 4-3-3 work with Lucas Gerrard & Adam behind Bellamy Suarez and Kuyt? Kelly & Enrique are proving to be very adventurous going forward and so can provide the width. Adam could slot in to cover the left when Enrique goes forward and likewise Gerrard on the right. Not sure how this would work, if at all

Should come out of the team against the Mancs for me - Bellamy in.
I'll be honest, I think he's getting a bit of a free pass with most people venting about Adam, Carroll and/or Henderson. His first three games were okay, 7/10 and I expected him to kick on. Instead he's had a few invisible performances.
I hope/think the idea of having a big(ger) squad is to have the option to take out players who aren't playing well and replace them with quality. Downing has started every game until now so, as he did with Henderson against the Bitters, Kenny should IMO drop Downing and get Bellamy in the team. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Well I'm a big fan of Maxi and am irritated by the way he's being marginalised, but Bellamy is in-form and has to start - although obviously left wing in a 4-4-2 is far from ideal for him.
Mate of mine - who arrives at the most ridiculously extreme opinions either way within a nano-second of a player joining us - has been calling Downing "the white John Barnes".

A-fecking-men!Originally posted by Chris View PostRevel in the Derby win for a bit, theres plenty of time to worry about players.
We've just done the bitters on their own patch in a comical way and we're sitting in a good position, with 13 points from 7 game (equivalent of 70.5 pts across 38 games). I've been in a good mood all day today and yet, some people come across like they've barely been able to crack a smile
I just dont get it. What needs to happen to make some people happy?

I'll tell you what gets my goat Alex, and i'm not pointing the finger at anyone specifically, but when players arent pulling up trees or are playing badly, saying they need to improve or up their game is fine.Originally posted by Alex View PostSo what if someone jumps on a player for having some bad games? Its his/her right, like it is yours, to express an opinion. Can we not have a discussion about the player, and not about what poster thinks now, or back 2 months ago?
It's when people get into abusing players, name-calling and basically coming out with stuff that Mancs and Bitters say about our players, that it's hard to swallow.
I dont think Henderson, thus far, has looked like a £16m player, he may come good and i think he will, he just needs time to settle and adjust (he's just a kid, after all). But that said, i would've liked to see a bit more from him than we've seen so far.
What i dont do, however, is post on here and call him ****, call him a 'pussy' or other names, or post stuff that is basically tantamount to abuse. That's not what Liverpool fans should be doing to Liverpool players and some people on here (again no names) do exactly that. TBH, i do find it pretty distasteful, to say the least and i dont blame Chris for getting pissed off by it, because it's pretty vile, to be frank.

I think Kenny got this signing wrong but that is my opinion. We need a better player on the left than him.
Squad player yes but not in the starting XI week in week out. Maxi would probably create more than him.
We need high quality players in all our attacking positions. A goal threat in every attacking position. Downing isn't a goal threat. He will score a few goals but he isn't a goal threat.Stop the cyberhate

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a

Agree with this though. Let's just enjoy the win. We can go back slating our scapegoats when we lose at home to a second-rate club next. Kneejerking ftw

There may be some truth in that, but i think we're suffering from the fact that top class wingers are incredibly hard to come by. Even Mata, who i always wanted ahead of Downing (like others did) isnt *really* an out and out winger.Originally posted by Arn View PostI think Kenny got this signing wrong but that is my opinion. If you were to name the world's best 10 wingers, chances are the majority of them are at clubs who wont/dont need to sell them, wouldnt come to us, or are simply not 'buyable' do to the obscene price they'd command.
Out of interest, and i'm asking because i'm genuinely curious, but who you would list as the best 5 wingers in world football?
They're in disappointingly low supply and i think that's something that has played a part if, as you believe, we've signed one who isnt good enough, in Downing.

Its weird, it was the same after Arsenal, we'd won there for the first time in what? A decade? And its still not good enough!Originally posted by Craig_H View Post

We'll probably beat Man Utd 2-1 or 3-2 and that still wont be enough. Got to wonder what some are expecting from this season, we are a clear work in progress so theres going to be ups and downs. Things take time, even with City money it took a little while to get it all sorted.
