I don't think he is suited to switching sides as often as we seem to like doing it. I think he'd be ok if he were only to go over to the right for ~15mins a game, but he seems to be switched every 15 to 20 mins, so he spends about half his time on each side.

Hopefully now Carroll has got his first goal, his confidence will be up and he (Carroll) will make the type of runs that allow Downing to find him with crosses.
Same here. He wasn't great but he wasn't as poor as some may be suggesting.

Very unlucky he hasn't scored of few occasions and should have had at least a few assists so I wouldn't worry much about his stats.

He needs to up his game though as lately he looked flat but it is great to finally have a strong bench and a player like Bellamy that can come in and really make the difference instantly.

Early days but we didn't see the best out of Downing yet and I hope we do very soon cause he is much better player than what he demonstrated thus far.

He's doing fine, though no surprise to see Dan bumping a thread with a criticism!

0 goals or assists doesnt look good but equally he's put in some great crosses which havent been converted like Carroll v Wolves. Hit the woodwork, nearly scored the goal of the season v Bolton though Suarez pass made that and we ended up scoring off the same move anyway, that amazing shot v Sunderland, so they dont tell the whole story. Bad day on saturday but thats all he's done wrong really, dont put any blame on him for Spurs, we were down to 10 straight away basically.

Yes, a couple of anonymous games, but overall he's been pretty good. Gerrard coming back and the move away from 4-4-2 will help him I feel.

I've had you on ignore for quite some time now which has been a relief but, through other peoples posts i've seen you call people mancs, ****e supporters, throwing abuse for any sort of criticism, whether it be constructive criticism or merely concerns. Anyways decided to reply directly to try and stop this nonsense. You need to cut the i'm the best supporter act and please stop following me around threads it's tiresome and a bit sad chris, seriously chill out dude

Anyways that said, I have by no means slated Henderson or Downing like you keep saying. Merely concerns for players, that if considered regular starters for LFC, need to be doing more, it is a valid concern . Most people have agreed with what i have said on both of these players, especially Henderson. By no means writing either of these players off & there is absolutely nothing wrong with being concerned or asking questions about any LFC player/s.

You've got a bit of a nerve telling anyone to chill out, should we post those tlw rants again? Which are far worse than anything I've ever said on here.

Concerns are cool, but anytime you ever bump an old thread it seems to be criticism. You cant wait to stick the knife in to Henderson after a game and spam match threads with criticisms during it though thankfully I havent seen the same "****house", "pussy" and "coward" stuff aimed at him which you said about Meireles weekly. I'm guilty of the other side of the coin and being to positive to be fair but it just baffles me a bit why people support us when all it seems to cause them is utter misery.

Revel in the Derby win for a bit, theres plenty of time to worry about players.

I think what saves Downing, amongst others, is that there's no weight of expectation on his shoulders. We've a decent depth to the squad and the only pressure he'll be feeling is on his place in the side. He'll know that there are 2 very good players waiting for a chance to jump in to that left mid spot but he's not alone on the 'at risk' list

Contrast this to last season when there was only Maxi able to play out there, and Miereles was asked to do the job.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I have, was rightly advised to

TLW jaysus chris, i was guilty of retaliating to abuse that was being sending privately also that you clearly don't know about, i should just ignored it that i've learned from and you'll notice the tone of my posts on here is completely different.

Oh and some of my posts i wrote, and some i didn't write but that's a different story and by you keep trying to rehash it doesn't change the fact that you have been abusive on here & very much over react to any sort of the slightest bit of critiscism constructive or just mild concerns. Clearly my posts about Hendo & Downing have not been personal or an attack, so let's not start a fire over absolutely nothing.

I have bumped this thread & starting my own Hendo thread, neither where abusive and a personal attack. This constant rewind to me calling Meireles a pussy (which he is) & which was said by others which you conveniently ignored. You seem really pissed off about that, what about all the positive things i've said about him & the strengths to his game? If you're going to post the negative stuff, why not be balanced and post the positive stuff i've posted about Meireles,Hendo & Downing? Quite unfair and selective to pick and choose.

And i don't need to be told by any other LFC supporter what type of supporter to be. I'm perfectly content with people being overly positive even if i disagree, each to their own but you should offer me the same respect . We have both said some ****, but i don't come on here to argue and hijack threads, i'm trying to be diplomatic and i would appreciate it if we could stop back and fourth

Very impressive in his first few games which proved me wrong. However he's been terribly average for the last couple but it doesn't help when he's stuck on the right hand side - he should be on the left and left only.

I know he hasn't got any goals or assists yet, but he's come mighty close a few times (Sunderland where he hit the bar and another game too - Bolton?). Fine lines and had he scored those two then his stats wouldn't look too shabby. Not sure that he's any better than Riera though and I find it harsh how Maxi has lost his place to him.

Willing to give him the season before I make any real judgement.

I seem to remember that in the first few games of the season, Downing was laying of the ball and immediately setting of running past his man and getting played on down the wing time and time again...but that seems to have died out now, not seen him drop the ball off and set of on a sprint to receive the ball. Is it just due to the opposition we have played, or is it a mental thing either with the team, the individual or even the manager possibly feeling that it leaves us exposed if both Enrique and Downing are caught up field?

Its not really the fact you called him it its the fact you had to tell us it 30 or 40 times per week, others dont and didnt. Kinda grates after a while. Same with the Henderson criticism and obviously you're delighted Downing has dropped off a bit and are seizing your chance.

It'd be nice if you bumped this thread next time he has a good game but I bet you dont.

                            Chris that's just ridiculous.

Think he is doing alright without pulling up trees. He has had one bad game against Spurs, but they all ****ing did then.
                              *Except Michael, who died.

Well when loads were praising him for his performances at the start of the season you werent in the thread, now a bad game or two and you've arrived. It's hard to see it any differently.
