I am expecting that if we play a 4-2-3-1 that the players in the 3 will be very interchangable allowing more freedom, creativity and movement, presumably those 3 will be Gerrard, Suarez and Downing all of whom are capable of playing down both sides or through the centre. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I really don't wanna see Suarez stationed on a flank. JohnDoe's banged on about this and I think he's dead right - Suarez naturally drifts wide and that's fine, but there's a difference between playing up front and working the channels, to actually playing on a flank. We need him through the middle, he's our best player/biggest threat.Originally posted by anfieldanfield View PostI can see him and Suarez constantly switching flanks. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

In fairness though alot of those players made their names with us, they had done well elsewhere but none were really regarded at that point as world class players, that only happened when the were here.Originally posted by cream View PostSome people keep referring back to last summer and how we are signing better players, just remember, previous to that we signing the likes of Torres, Masch, Reina, Alonso, Johnson etc etc. Things weren't always as **** as last summer. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think he's at his most effective coming in from the flank, like David Villa.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostI really don't wanna see Suarez stationed on a flank. With three in central midfield and Carroll leading the line, I'd give Suarez pretty much free reign to roam as he fancies. But I think naturally he'd prefer to 'start' on the wings and drift in....
Except for cannon fodder at Anfield I can't really ever see us playing a 4-4-2 with Carroll and Suarez up top.

Yeah im not sure why people keep putting him out wide, it's blatantly not going to happen judging by the fact Kenny doesnt play him out wide and the signings we're making. He's playing upfront with Carroll.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostI really don't wanna see Suarez stationed on a flank. Downing in a way reminded me of Lucas last season - he was never a world beater and very rarely had an amazing match, but both of them were consistently good.
Players who consistently contribute to the team are vital. There were games last season were we did not get going, but Lucas was still performing - Downing was the same for Villa.
Both times we played Villa last season, they were ****; Downing was their best player.

So Kenny is just going to abandon what he played loads last season? Dont think so somehow. Suarez wont be outwide and Carroll wont be on the bench.Originally posted by anfieldanfield View PostThere's no way we'll be playing just two in central midfield, which means we wont be playing two up front.

I could see him playing more like David Villa for Spain - stationed wide of centre and coming in.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostI really don't wanna see Suarez stationed on a flank. I also don't see an asymmetric team as a problem - width from Downing one side and a relatively narrow setup on the other side (especially with Johnson at right back to offer some width that side."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I think we'll play a very fluid 3 behind the front man when we are attacking at least. Presumably those three would be Gerrard, Suarez and Downing. You would imagine it would work best with Downing and Gerrard playing the wider roles and Suarez playing off the front man. Gerrard and Downing both have better defensive abilities than Suarez so I would imagine they will be the 2 of the 3 to get back and help the defence and midfield out the most.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostI really don't wanna see Suarez stationed on a flank.
