To be fair, we do have some depth (admittedly not as much as City), but when you lose 2 first choice CBs, and then the cover, and then have to cover them with your 2 first choice CMs thus weakening the midfield and the rotational aspect, and then further compound that by losing 1 of your front 4 meaning the other 3 are played to death, well any team will struggle.

If we can get the injured players back and playing at their previous levels (hopefully that will be the case, but with injuries like this there is always that chance that the spark will be gone ) then i think it will be a battle between us and City, with Chelsea the best of the rest.

i think with the premier league though, as long as you can have consistency then it is possible to pretty much beat about 12 teams home and away.

Chelsea have a squad and now the manager as Jaco said. So yes they could challenge next year too.

The fact that it is chelsea is some comfort though - because no doubt Tuchel will get sacked after 2 draws or something. Roman will be bored some day and go for Nagellsman or something ha ha

We do have depth but at times our depth is more in number than quality. Am thinking if we have our full squad and before any summer signings.

In midfield we are generally stacked in terms of quality and numbers.

At the back we have some depth but think that is more numerically than quality (Am talking actual defenders rather than midfielders having to fill in). Our full back cover is not really great and at CB, our cover is Matip and then we are down to Phillips/Williams etc.

Up front we are lacking a lot in terms of quality depth. There is Jota and then we are down to the likes of Origi and Minamino.

Fully fit, our starting XI and four, maybe five, of the back ups match any of the teams in the league and we will stay with and probably above any team if we stay mostly fit.

Just looked at the Chelsea squad again before typing this and it is just amazing how poorly Lampard did given the depth of quality in their squad. He really had that squad playing down to his level rather than getting them to play anything close to what a squad that good should be able to. Put Klopp or Pep in charge of that Chelsea squad and you get a title challenging team.

They certainly have better quality back ups in attack and at full back than us.

Would also stay that the drop off in quality bertween their starting CBs and their 3rd and 4th choice CBs is not as great as with us, although when you have VVD as a starting CB then the drop off to any back up is going to be huge.

Midfield is the only area where our back ups are of higher quality than theirs are for me.

I firmly believe that if we stay fit next season then the title is between us and City, but that Chelsea will stay with the two of us deep into the season and be will be well ahead of the fourth placed team.

Inter or Juve possibly, or maybe back to Argentina.

However, Ings might actually suit Citys style of play as a focal point. He is a good box player and could actually score **** loads of goals for them with the amount of chances they create

If they want to go for a similar style of player, then Martinez might be on their radar.

Kind of hope we go for Martinez tbh.

I would much rather they get Messi than Mbappe or Haaland, Messi will be 34 this summer, they may get 3 years out of him if they are lucky but they won't be his best years. If they get Mbappe or Haaland they will likely get their best years which would be a worry.

I still quite like Ings as a former LFC player and seemingly a hardworking likable guy not sure I could still like him playing in a City shirt

Totally agree. At the end, i think Messi will stay at Barca or else leave european football.......

On Ings, i actually think had he not got that horrible injury before Klopps first game as LFC boss, we could be a totally different team now.

If we sold Origi and bought back Ings, then I wouldn't be adverse to Ings fighting it out with Firmino for the #9 spot.

Not really a surprise to anyone but they are commissioning a statue of Aguero to go alongside Kompany and Silva.
