Wages in excess of £500k a week do we reckon? United sure do pick up some bargains.

I think the wages were part of the reason why City have turned away from a deal.

It probably won't cost them much after the inevitable sales of Ronaldo shirts. I'm just hoping that it ends up as a bloody disaster of a move

              That's a lot of shirts.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Clubs generally don't get a slice of shirt sales. We do but that's just because we signed that stupid low ball Nike deal.

There would have been a huge dropoff. I reckon this 'shirt sales pays for the player' thing is just a myth

                          It absolutely is.

Agreed also. I doubt the signing of a player is going to contribute a significant number of shirt purchases that would not have been otherwise purchased. Its just that they opt to guy Ronalso on the back rather than another player or leaving it blank and the whole value of the shirt sale is attributed to him.

Surely there will be some utter cringe fanbois that support the team Ronaldo plays for but nowhere near that many.

I never said it would pay for him, but, I don't think it'll cost them a ridiculous amount after the extra merchandise is taken into consideration. If it ends up costing them £50m over 2 seasons, and they recoup 30% of that, its **** all in the grand scheme of things.

The other side of it is who cares about the cost? They can afford it, so it makes no difference if it ends up costing them £200m anyway.

City have to be close to going ****ing nuts on a transfer after missing out on Kane and Ronaldo.
