Wow. I know innocent until proven guilty and all that but that's quite poor from the club. And ridiculous that he kept getting bail.

Remanded in custody until appearing in Crown Court of September 10. That seems like a very short wait for Crown Court trial to start. Even discounting a pandemic backlog they seem to be delayed months.

I know it is good for the victims to not have to wait months or even the accused to have it hanging over them but yje cynic in me feels this may have been bumped up the list because he is a high earner.

Is there a limit to the amount of time someone can be remanded in custody if not yet found guilty? And letting him out again could be an error, in that he could flee the country/possibly commit more offences.

I agree he should be remanded if he is a flight risk or a risk to the public. If charged with multiple serious offences against multiple that seems a reasonable argument that he is. There is 72 hours between arrest and charge but didn't think there was once charged. A quick search suggests it was 6 months but Sept 2020 it was extended to 8 months.

As of March 2021 3,500 people were waiting longer than 6 months and I can't see that backlog having been cleared so 9 days seem a bit rapid.
