I find it difficult to muster a dislike for him even though he is ginger and plays for that lot.
He has been very proactive with regards to charity work since his days playing in Germany and apparantly both he and his wife do an awful lot for charities and organisations beyond what gets reported publically.
As a footballer, and again trying to ignore who he plays for, he was gifted and a genuine world class level player.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Yeah - he has been an amazing player for them, most likely the difference in the seasons we ran them close. He comes across as a class act also, so, other than the fact he plays for City, it is hard to dislike him.
From a purists POV he was sensational.Modifying post.Comment

Rare you see such a drop off from a footballer. Absolute worldie to a shadow of a himself in such a quick time span. Injuries ruined him.Comment

To be fair his two drop off seasons only happened after he has been a regular for 11 seasons prior.
So pretty much a combination of having been a regular for club and country for 11 years and moving into his early 30s creating a perfect storm for that physical drop off.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

He had 6 goals and 18 assists last season in 26 games, that's ridiculous. About 1700 mins of football. Some players are just unlucky and either a bad injury or numerous back to back minor injuries just ruin a player. He was an incredible footballer and so consistent in putting up huge numbers throughout his career and it's just all gone down hill for him so quickly. His hamstrings have finished him. Every dog had its day I suppose, good luck replacing him.Comment

Hell we have a guy that has 27 goals and 17 assists from 30 games this season and folk want him benched, so poor old ginger nuts has no chance.
