There were lots of errors before var that were never picked up. The question is whether the error rate is reduced after the introduction of var and I’d bet it is, so overall it’s a net positive.
Yeah, the main benefit of VAR is it highlights the corruption and the inadequacy.

City and Newcastle now have the paying power. Previously it was manure, but they still hold sway with the ref club now being bossed by the man utd sympathiser.

Oh that & the 'Thats my mate' attitude.

Get in proffesional VAR who could not give a **** about 'their' on field mate, get officials on the pitch not in Webbs pocket & you will sort it
I think VAR has had the unintended affect of making the on-pitch officials ultra risk averse though. They think VAR will correct any controversial errors so pick the path of least resistance. We need to recruit more Ironballs McGinty.

**** off this clear and obvious error ****e, introduce daylight or base offsides on feet only, and stop trying to protect refs thinking that VAR undermines their authority.
Introducing daylight for offsides won't fix anything though, just means they will be drawling lines on the opposite side

Clear & Obvious just adds another layer of subjectivity into the process.

VAR should be there to ensure the right decision is made, if that means re-referring the game so be it.

Agree with your modification to the offside rule too, or they could just use the World Cup system and remove the bloody lines and human judgement on which frame the ball is kicked. AI will have that sorted in seconds not minutes.

Nothing wrong with the tech as sports like rugby have proven.

The problem, when it comes to footy, is the men and women using it.

Do think it is more a Premier League issue too than VAR in footy in general as there seems to be far less by way of crazy decisions a number of times every single round of games in other leagues.

Then again look at the reffing in general in the Premier league, even without taking VAR decisions into account, and compare it to the reffing in general in say the Champions League.

I also agree that there is no real comparison between the Liverpool and arsenal incidents recently.
