Id rather both. But what is the point of being in the Champions League if we are not within a chance of winning it. Just making up the numbers then.
Ignoring the financial side of things. Also since how long have we as a group of fans been so interested in the money side of the game.*Except Michael, who died.

I understand what you mean to an extent, but there is a reason that the Champions League is seen as a target for teams, it's because it allows you to attract a higher calibre of player, which in turn will win your trophies.
Obviously, I would like us to win trophies, but if you offered me the league cup or the CL at the start of the season I'd pick the CL.
Oh and 2005 shows, no matter the team there is always a chance of winning the CL.
The times they are a changin'.

I hate the mentality that 4th or top 4 is an achievement. Its not. Its 4th best in the league.
Playing in the champions league means far more to players than playing in the league cup though. It may mean more to you, it doesn't to clubs or players.

It's difficult one, i agree that 'we' (LFC) exist to win trophies.
BUT i really want to see us win the league (again) and the only way we'll be able to do that is via a better class of players (and possibly manager), players/managers which are normally attracted either by (a) money (b) CL footie. We come not to play.

This thread is about Arsenal and Arsene Wenger. Although they are regulars in the champions league they are a million miles away from winning it and they have not won a trophy in about 8 years. I can't see how that is acceptable to a club that has had so much stability. I think Wenger is doing pretty poorly now
Our situation is different as we have had tons of instability and financial issues and desperately need to get back into CL
