So, of all the years for them to look to go for it they wait for the one year out of 20 that they are out of the Champs league.

I expect them to spend big this summer, it's the only reason I can see Wenger staying. I'd started a post earlier about the very point you are making, but Wenger has nothing to lose at this stage, so why not go for it?

Will be quite funny though to see them overpaying for players, when they could have used teh same resources to really strengthen from a good position in previous years.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

There's no such thing as value when you're talking about €100m so might as well go the whole hog and stick another €20m on it. If Arsenal are serious that is.

There's gonna be a blud bath.

What a con that new stadium has turned out to be.

2005: We need a new stadium to compete financially.

2017: Even with a new stadium we can't compete.

Wenger really has played a blinder here.

                            Clearly going bat**** crazy.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted that never being able to manage Michael Carrick is ‘one of his regrets’ in football.

The 35-year-old former Tottenham star has now won every trophy possible during his 11 years at Old Trafford after United lifted the Europa League last month.

Carrick has deservedly been handed a new one-year deal by Jose Mourinho and enjoyed a star-studded testimonial on Sunday.

Speaking before that game, Wenger admitted his admiration for the midfielder on Arsenal.com: “I give Michael my deepest congratulations for his testimonial. I think he deserves it hugely.

“I would say personally I’m an admirer of his career, of his quality.

“One of my regrets is never having had him as a player because I think he was one of the greatest players in English football.

“I believe as well that he did not always get the reward and the tribute, the recognition he deserved.

“But I’m an admirer of Michael and I wish him all the best for the future.”
