Never been convinced by Adam.

I think he could be a decent player, but I really worry about his lack of mobility and fitness.

That's the biggest concern for me.

He is committing too many silly fouls as he seems to be one step too slow, which explains his defensive shortcomings.

What is the solution? Drop Adam and put Henderson in there? Then wait a few games and realise he is not up to it either?

To say its not his game to tackle is rubbish IMO. He is a footballer, its one of the vital parts they should all be doing.

He needs to sort it out, but I have a feeling its a combination of him fading late on, and Lucas being a monster in the tackle. Lucas gets there before Adam. I dont think its Adam avoiding it. (Hopefully)

Basically, he didn't attempt one tackle, successful or not, in the whole game.

He was involved in 11 possession duels and lost six of those.

Four aerial duels, winning 3.

Dribbled past three times.

Made four clearances with only one keeping possession.

Lost the ball five times. Twice by being caught on the ball & twice from poor control.

He does add a creative edge to the side though...

I suggested that in the derby game he could be used as the central attacking midfielder flanked by Kuyt & Downing with Suarez up front on his own. Then Spearing & Lucas could play as defensive midfielders because Everton are sure as hell going to play 4-5-1. We need someone with a quick brain to get the ball moving but we can't sacrifice any grit in the centre. I get the feeling it'll be Adam & Lucas in the middle and Henderson will start too

The comparison between Alonso and Adam is laughable. Xabi is utter class.

Gary Gillespie reckons Adam has the potential to be better than Alonso. He didn't say at what though.

Its a worry for sure, certainly against 4 teams in this league anyway, think it'd be better without both him and Henderson in midfield though.

And to be fair to him 2 goals (**** the own goal people) and 2 assists in 6 league games is excellent going at the other end.
