I have my reservations but in recent weeks he has convinced me that he can do an excellent job for us in a lot of games. I think we need to add another options to the squad/team but he is a very sound option. I think Lucas + Adam is becoming a much better midfield partnership than several United have used in recent years and they have done pretty well.

I still remain to be convinced by him though.

Inconsistency is the biggest fear. Yes, a couple of good weeks is a start. Decision making is also a fear for me.

Adam can help us get 4th this season, which is the primary objective, no?

How have I misunderstood it? You are saying we cant get higher than 4th if Charlie Adam is in the team regularly. I think the logic of laying it all on one player is stupid as numerous examples of mediocre players coming second or first over the years prove. Our league position will be down to what the regular 11 and squad do, not one player.

A bit like some of our other players I see him as an intermediate solution to get us into the CL, at which point the squad can be improved again.

Well firstly, I'm not writing him off.

Secondly, I have said included others too but this is the Adam thread so have not gone into specifics about them.

If Adam can keep up is recent couple of performances then he'll prove me wrong. It was only a month ago that I said he'll never be good enough for us; I hope I'm having a large chunk of humble pie at the end of the season.

It's too early to judge him at the moment IMO.

If Charlie Adam has time and space, he can do alot of damage but I find he's not the best at getting out of tight spots when he's under pressure. I think if Lucas is around and we're not being over-run in midfield then we can compensate for Adam inevitably giving the ball away but whenever we've faced numbers in the centre we've always come out second best.

Well close to if we want to achieve anything! "long term he is not the answer" I think is very harsh after his recent performances. Surely deserves a bit more time before you declare something like that? He's been excellent v Chelsea and Man City and good v Man Utd and Arsenal, just got to step it up a little bit v the **** teams but thats a whole team thing not just him.
