I also don't think Terry would just call Barton a cunt he'd personalise it, with Scouse cunt or something.
But Terry didnt use 'black' as a descriptive term did he?

He wasnt saying "Oi Anton, you're a cunt. And i mean the black Anton, if anyone was unsure"

If you asked me about Joey Barton and Rio Ferdinand, i'd probably come up with the same words actually. "Cunt" "dickhead" and "****"

Ah, so he was just narrowing down to make it easier for Ferdinand to realise that he was the cunt. Helped the white players too and prevented them thinking that they might be the cunt. I'm all in favour then, it's best to be as specific as possible when calling out a cunt.

I don't know, I didn't see the incident (are there any working links BTW?), but I could possibly understand if someone claimed to say it in the heat of the moment without any racist intentions.

Terry might well have meant it in the worst possible way, but I don’t think just because he wouldn’t call someone a white cunt supports this suggestion in any way.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Racist expressions are either in your vocabulary or they arent. You either use them or you dont.

I'm not buying any 'heat of the moment' stuff. I've been caught up in 'heat of the moment' situations but i've never called anyone a 'black cunt' or words to such effect.

You say he might've meant it in the worst possible sense - that's just the point though, if you're not racist and if you're able to see past a person's colour, the notion of calling a black person 'a black cunt' just wouldnt enter your mind. Just as, in the same way, the idea of calling an Asian person a 'p*** cunt' wouldnt either.

My brother constantly refers to black people as black c****, especially footballers.

For instance when watching a match at home and a black player fouls a Liverpool player he will automatically call them a black c*** which imo is wrong and uncalled for.

He does it about people of middle eastern origin too, for instance he calls them all p****. Prime example being the Man Utd fans who sit by the dugout at OT, I explained they're Sikh not P**** and that he's simply stereotyping one group of people or race. He did it a few hours ago too when talking about an asian taxi driver who was driving his mate home in Leeds. He referred to him as a P****.

I constantly have to pull him up on this and tell him he can't say things like that but he just ignores me and continues to do it anyway.

I don't think he's a racist as such I think it just stems from anger and the immediate thing you can think of when angry is either to target someone's weight or someone's colour but either way it's not right. He's obviously still stuck back in the dark ages with regards to his views of other races and religions.

He calls fat people fat c**** too when infact he is overweight himself it's just the way he is. I'm not defending him here btw and I hope I haven't offended anyone.

Not surprising, cunt of a club captained by cunt of a human being with cunts as fans. Capello needs to remove him from the England captaincy sharpish, we don't need England fans 'getting behind their captain' by chanting racist abuse at Anton Ferdinand, not that I really care about England, but still...

I happen to think that, with racism, it kinda stems from two areas, though one exists in both, if that makes sense.

You have racism born out of ignorance - eg Ron Atkinson. I dont think Atkinson said what he said about Gallas, out of malice or hatred - i think he's just from a generation where they DID say those things and it was never considered wrong. He was brought up that way and just continues to live like he's still in the old days, but is doing so in today's modern society. He's 'racist' because he doesnt know any different, he's ignorant to why it's wrong.

Then you have people whose racism is born out of hatred and malice. Again, the core reason for this is down to ignorance, by virtue of the fact that they hold beliefs due to not having been taught the realities of life. But unlike people like Atkinson, this type of racism is fuelled by hatred.

Ron Atkinson is 'racist' due to his upbringing and living through a time where society didnt recognise the wrongdoing of it all. I dont think he has a problem with, for example, black people - he just uses a term he grew up being told was ok.

John Terry seems to actually hold hateful feelings based on race.

That's how i see it anyway. 'Ignorant racism' and 'hate-filled racism'.

Of course, the two are linked and sometimes both are present in the same person.

                        Chelsea condemn chanting
Blues disappointed at a section of their travelling support

Chelsea have condemned chants from their own fans about Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand during their 1-1 UEFA Champions League draw at Genk on Tuesday.

A section of Blues supporters repeatedly chanted about Ferdinand in response to the John Terry racism inquiry now the subject of investigations by the Football Association and the Metropolitan Police.

Terry, who was left on the bench in Belgium, released a statement to deny allegations he had racially abused Ferdinand during last month's West London derby after video footage posted online caused a storm.

It is unclear whether Chelsea could face any action over the chanting at the Cristal Stadium but officials were quick to set out the club's stance.

"The chanting was wholly inappropriate and we don't condone it,'' a club spokesman said in a statement.

Manager Andre Villas-Boas insisted he had not heard the chanting, which was at its loudest shortly before and shortly after half-time.

He said: "I was concentrating on the game.''
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
